9.25 Update for On-Campus Families

Video Intros: On-Campus Protocols

We have created on-campus introduction videos for each of our campuses that highlight some of the health and safety precautions for the 2020-2021 school year. Note: These videos summarize on-campus protocols; they do not encompass all details. Detailed On-Campus Protocols

Don't Forget: Mask, Water Bottle, & Device!

In order to help protect your student's health, they will need to bring their face mask, a water bottle, and a device such as Chromebook or iPad with them to and from school daily.

Student Devices

Whether your child will be using a WISD-issued or personal device, they will need to bring their device with them to and from school daily. It will be used as a learning tool in classrooms. Please be sure the device is charged each evening and ready for school each day. Students should also bring their charger to school daily. To protect the device during transport, we recommend wrapping it in a soft cloth from home or purchasing an inexpensive protective sleeve. We recommend using a piece of tape to label your child's device and charger with their name. If you still need a WISD-issued device, please call 936.931.0313 for an appointment.

Bell Schedules

There are new bell schedules during the 2020-2021 school year to allow for a 3-tier bus system that will accommodate the need for social distancing on buses due to COVID-19. Please do not drop-off before the times listed below. WISD 2020-2021 School Calendar

Bus Route Info & Notifications

WISD Transportation is also working hard to keep our students safe and healthy on their way to/from school. If you have selected for your child to ride the bus, find estimated pick-up/drop-off times and sign up for notifications using SMART Tag Parent Portal HERE.

On their first day at school, all students will receive a SMART Tag that should remain attached to their backpack or lanyard at all times during the school year. This tag will be used when students load and unload a school bus during regular A.M. or P.M. routes. If your child is not a regular rider, it is still important to have the tag in case bus services are ever needed.

Elementary Car Riders

Parents/guardians of elementary car riders, will receive an email with your child's car rider ID number. You will need this information when you pick up your child from school for the first time. Even if your child is not a car rider now, please keep this email in case it is ever needed during the school year. Questions? Contact your child's campus.

Campus Visitor Information

Parents and guardians are normally welcome on our campuses with open arms, however due to current health conditions no visitors are allowed during arrival, dismissal, lunches, or other activities. Campus leaders will be working with families on how they can help from home. Administrators and teachers will be meeting with families via Zoom and on-campus by appointment only. Please call your child's school before you visit. Health pre-screening, masks, and social distancing is required for all approved visitors.

Family Contact Information Update

WISD requires all families to update their child's information in Skyward annually. This includes information for parents/guardians and emergency contacts. Due to COVID-19, this is especially important for the 2020-2021 school year. Please complete your student's annual info update in Skyward HERE.

COVID-19 Case Reporting

Although the WISD family is taking all possible precautions, we recognize that there will be instances where students and staff members are lab-tested positive for COVID-19. WISD is committed to transparently reporting this information to the community. When a positive case is reported by an on-campus individual, all staff, parents/guardians, and students on that campus will receive an email notification.

WISD has also created a COVID-19 Case Reporting Dashboard to provide a central location for all members of the WISD family and community to find accurate and timely COVID-19 status updates.

Details for steps WISD is taking to keep students and staff healthy including screening information, facility cleaning and sanitizing information, illness isolation, and more can be found here:
