60 SECONDS WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT
Physical Education classes are important for the development and well-being of our students. Whether it is instilling exercise habits, teaching the fundamentals of teamwork, or developing countless other life skills, Physical Education has far-reaching benefits beyond the classroom. Click HERE for this week’s ‘60 Seconds’ feature, which provides more insight into the different Physical Education experiences our students are receiving.
SCS QUALITY PROFILE MAILED TO THE COMMUNITY
All Strongsville residents and businesses recently received this year’s Quality Profile, a district-wide mailing detailing the accomplishments of Strongsville City Schools. The Quality Profile recognizes the success of our students, teachers, staff, and administrators, both inside and outside of the classroom. THANK YOU to everyone in our community - we all make a difference in the growth and development of our students! If you missed it in your mailbox, or want to view it again, click HERE for this year’s Quality Profile.
MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. KATHY CEBULA, MEDIA ASSISTANT AT SURRARRER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Mrs. Kathy Cebula is the Media Assistant at Surrarrer Elementary School. She has spent 15 years with Strongsville City Schools, working at a number of our elementary buildings. Mrs. Cebula earned her undergraduate degree in Marketing at Bowling Green State University. She has a son who attended Zellers Elementary and Albion Middle School, and is also a graduate of Strongsville High School (Class of 2013). One of Mrs. Cebula’s favorite things about living and working in Strongsville is having the opportunity to see students outside of the classroom at local stores and businesses, and meeting their families.
When asked what she likes best about working with students, Mrs. Cebula says, “I enjoy many things about our students, as I watch them grow and develop on a daily basis. I get to see many of their ‘firsts’ - whether it’s seeing them use a computer for the first time and progressing toward mastery of their use, or seeing them read a book for the first time - I enjoy watching them progress in learning as they move from grade to grade. Our students are so creative and curious. They ask wonderful questions and love to learn!”
She adds about working with the staff at Surrarrer, “I am fortunate to work and collaborate with an amazing staff. They have become a family to me. We also have strong support from our parents and PTA and that adds to the great sense of community at Surrarrer.”
Thank you Mrs. Cebula for enriching student lives at Surrarrer Elementary and providing a strong foundation for future development.

On your next visit to Pat Catan Stadium, we invite you to take the time to visit the area surrounding the flagpole, which pays tribute to those SHS grads and community members who have served our country, and honors the branches of our military. The 15 foot by 25 foot flag, flying atop the 70 foot flagpole, was made possible through the generous donations of the following individual community members and civic organizations: Mayor Thomas Perciak Family Foundation, Kiwanis Club of Strongsville, Strongsville VFW Post 3345, Michael Catanzarite Family, Strongsville Lions Club, Colonel & Mrs. Duke Evans, George Grozan Family (In Honor of Atanasie Grozan, US Army), Jane & Mark Ludwig & Family, Richard Micko Family, Carl Naso Family (In Honor of Joseph Carl Naso, US Navy).

ONLINE SCHOOL FORMS - UPDATING YOUR STUDENT’S INFORMATION
Please make sure you have updated your student’s information online. This process replaces the paper forms (Emergency Contacts, Medical Forms, etc.) sent home at the beginning of each school year. Even if there are no changes, you must still log in and confirm the information. Use the PowerSchool Parent Portal (PASS) to access the online information update form. The deadline to complete this task was September 8, 2017.
The Information Update form must be completed prior to your child receiving report cards, transcripts, parking permits, participation in extracurricular activities, attending dances, and field trips, as well as participation in commencement activities.
