Scholarships for Your Students: Seeking Participants

The Miss Tennessee’s Outstanding Teen program began in 2004 as a partner scholarship program to the Miss Tennessee Scholarship Competition, and in 2005, the iconic Miss America Organization launched the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen program. The goals of the Miss Tennessee/Miss America’s Outstanding Teen programs are to promote scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living, and community involvement for America’s teens. The candidates are between the ages of 13 – 18 years of age and are among the brightest and most talented young women in our state.

The Miss Tennessee’s Outstanding Teen Program is seeking candidates to compete in local competitions. Do you know of any community-minded, intelligent, and talented young women from your school who might be interested in competing? Over $9000 in college scholarships are available this year to state candidates including a $3,500 scholarship and fabulous in-kind scholarships for our Miss Tennessee’s Outstanding Teen winner to the University of Alabama, Troy University, and more! Keep in mind that candidates are not judged on physical beauty and this is not a pageant. While young women who normally compete in pageants are sure to be interested, consider reaching out to your top academic students, those who participate in drama club/theater, and those interested in debate and social issues. They all would thrive in our program!

Please invite any young woman who might be interested to our free informational Zoom meeting on Monday night, September 12 at 7:00 pm central. The link to join can be found at misstennessee.org/compete. Also please share the attached document with them or send them to misstennessee.org/compete. I am happy to answer any questions they have via email (colene.trent@misstennessee.org) or phone (205) 915-7079.
