Uncovering Student Ideas in Primary Science
Wouldn’t it be helpful to know what your students’ ideas are about a particular science concept before you launch into a new lesson? Reveal students’ preconceptions of fundamental concepts in science with NSTA Press’s award-winning and best-selling Uncovering Student Ideas in Science series. Each volume includes 25 short formative assessment probes that can help pinpoint what your students know (or think they know)—allowing you to monitor student learning and adjust your teaching strategies accordingly. The probes are invaluable formative assessment tools you can use during any point of instruction. Complete with detailed teacher materials. Click here for more information.

Lee County Mosquito Education
The Lee County Mosquito Education classroom programs are conducted in collaboration with classroom teachers. Programs are designed for students in kindergarten, 5th grade, 7th grade, and high school chemistry and biology classes. These environmental science programs support Florida's Next Generation Sunshine State Standards in a variety of areas. Films, readings, slide programs, discussions, art activities and lab experiences are utilized to teach the objectives of each unit. In addition, our instructors are active with local, state, and national committees devoted to mosquito control and environmental education.
Environmental Education
EE provides authentic experiences for teachers and students in our local environment. Our environment includes not only our natural resources, but also our cultural and historical resources as well. The core of the program is the system of Community Study Units and their associated field trips. Students have opportunities to visit and learn about the major habitat types of Southwest Florida and key historic sites. Many other instructional, curricular, and training opportunities are included in the EE Program.
Elementary Science Expo
The Elementary Science Expo was established in 2005 as a non-competitive event to encourage young minds to participate in science and engineering practices, and introduce them to a science fair-like atmosphere. This gives students a platform to share their hard work and discoveries in STEM fields. For more information, follow us on Twitter @EdisonFairs
