Coronavirus outbreak
Information for our schools and teachers
We believe knowledge is power, now more so than ever. So, we would like to set out for all the schools and teachers we are working with over the next few months how the coronavirus outbreak will affect your booking and the way we work with you.
At the time of writing there has been no official direction from the UK Government to close schools to help stop the spread of the virus. However, according to Unesco (the UN’s education, scientific and cultural organisation), 49 countries already have school closures in place, so it could just be a matter of time before the UK is forced to do the same.
We are of course concerned ourselves about the consequences of this and our business will no doubt be affected. We have accepted the possibility that we might not be able to pay ourselves for a number of months.
While we both remain well, we will be working hard to support teachers with resources and guidance to share directly with pupils. We are currently putting together free packages that schools can share remotely with pupils in the event of school closures.
These will include:
- A guide to the best revision strategies and what they are
- A step-by-step guide for pupils on how to use them
We will also be working to help schools keep their preparations for Curriculum for Wales on track by creating short guides for teachers on how to make the best use of our professional learning packs if they have to work remotely.
(For details of how to access all of our resources, including Sketchnotes, professional learning packs, blogs and more, and how to subscribe to our membership platform Impactplus please visit: https://www.impact.wales/resources/)
For those schools who have booked direct support with us for the Spring or the Summer term, we will be contacting them all directly setting out clearly the different options for that support, to manage staff illness, the need to work remotely and/or postponement of the support. Our aim is to avoid complete cancellation of the booking if at all possible.
If you would like to discuss your booking with us directly, or you would like to find out more about how you can use our digital resources during remote working, please contact us on enquiries@impact.wales. Please be reassured, we already working to create remote working options and will be contacting all of our bookings for the rest of this academic year over the next few days.
Stay safe everyone,
Jane & Finola,
Impact Wales.
