Message from Principal Mrs. De La Rosa
Mighty Sailors,
Thank you for helping us keep our parent pick up improve. We have noticed our students are safer by using the appropriate pick up area.
We are also working very hard to ensure your student is getting the best instruction. Please ensure you are finding time to speak with your children about how they are doing and how they are feeling at school. We want to do the very best to support them and we are here to support you as well. Thank you for trusting us with your students!

Covid-19 Parent and Student Expectations
SUPPORTING INFORMATION
Wash Your Hands
Keeping our hands clean is one of the simplest and most important ways we can prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. The CDC recommends that everyone wash their hands frequently throughout the day. We will be promoting frequent 20-second hand washing practices among students and staff.
Wear A Mask
We know that masking is the number one way to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We strongly encourage all individuals to wear a face mask, especially unvaccinated individuals (following CDC masking guidelines) and continue wearing a mask when around others who are not in their immediate households. Austin Public Health and the CDC recommend that students and staff are aware of the correct use of cloth face masks, including wearing cloth face masks over the nose and mouth and securely around the face. Austin ISD will require all students and employees to wear masks while on the bus (see CDC order).
Keep Your Distance
Aligned with CDC recommendations for social distancing as a strategy for slowing the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Austin ISD will implement social distancing measures at all schools and facilities, whenever possible. The CDC considerations for schools states, “Space seating/desks at least 3 feet apart when feasible.”
Self Screen
All staff, students, and visitors are encouraged to self screen for COVID-19 symptoms before entering into a campus or other Austin ISD facility each day. If you answer, yes, to any of the below when self screening, please consider staying home and consulting a doctor. Our five self screening questions:
o Is your temperature at or above 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit?
o In the past 24 hours, have you had or have you felt like you have had any of the following symptoms that are NOT related to any underlying medical condition:
· Fever at or above 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit?
· Chills?
· Cough (for those with chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in cough from baseline)
· Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing?
· Fatigue/have been unusually tired?
· New loss of taste or smell?
· Headache (for those with chronic headaches, a change in headaches from baseline)
· Sore throat?
· Congestion or runny nose?
· Nausea or vomiting?
· Diarrhea?
· Not feeling well in general?
o In the last 2 weeks (14 days), has anyone in your household tested positive for COVID-19?
o In the last 2 weeks (14 days), have you been in close contact (within 6 feet for over 15 minutes) or around anyone else that has tested positive for COVID-19 (with or without a mask)?
o Have you recently gotten tested for COVID-19, due to having close contact to a confirmed positive or showing symptoms, and are waiting to receive your test result?

UT PREP
Parents, get ahead of the game! How would you like your 6th or 7th grade student to attend a summer camp 2022 at the University of Texas-Austin and get High school credit? Then get your student ready NOW so that they are one of the firsts to reserve their spot before December! Students must have two report cards with the following grades: 90 and above in Math, Science, and English (85 and above if in Advanced/AP/PreAp courses). Please encourage your student to meet the report card criteria. For more detailed info or to look at previous camps info, please go to https://outreach.uteach.utexas.edu/ut-prep-1
About UT PREP
UT PREP 1 is a summer camp run by The University of Texas at Austin for current 6th and 7th graders. During UT PREP 1, students gain problem solving and critical thinking skills, master concepts in math and engineering, and learn about colleges and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). UT PREP 1 students also participate in research lab tours and interact with real engineers and scientists. After completion of UT PREP 1, students are invited to return the following three summers for UT PREP 2, 3, and 4.
Every level of UT PREP is accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to count as one high school career/technical education (CTE) course. For this reason, attendance is mandatory and students may only miss a maximum of 3 days of camp.
Cost
A partnership between UT PREP and Austin ISD allows all Austin ISD students to attend UT PREP for $25 or less (income based). Transportation will be provided. Camp runs Monday thru Thursday for 5 weeks (starts in June 2022).
