March is Reading Month
One Book, Two Author Visits, Three Cheers for Reading!
To celebrate March is Reading month, we will be embarking on a special project; an all school book club called One School, One Book. Each family will receive a copy of the book, The World According to Humphrey, by Betty G. Birney. This is a title that our student council members helped choose. They looked for a title that would appeal equally to both boys and girls and kids of all ages. In addition, this hamster models good behavior both inside and outside the classroom...and makes readers feel HAPPY-HAPPY-HAPPY!
We are really excited to welcome two engaging authors this month. Mrs. Ruth McNally Barshaw shares how her love of drawing and journaling helps her create her stories. Maria Dismondy uses her books to share important life lessons about mindset and character. We cannot wait to see these authors in action.
In addition, classes will be participating in Ribbi’s Rad Reader’s Reading Program. This program encourages weekly reading goals with an incentive to earn weekly prizes as well as a ticket to a baseball game at Jimmy John’s Field.
