PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
Dear Families,
I’m very excited to let you know that starting Monday, March 1, our Limited In Person Instruction (LIPI) program will begin at Arleta. We will have a total of 16 students at school two days a week for a total of 4 hours. While it is a far cry from what we think of as normal, I’m very excited to have some students in the building and I know the teachers working with them are too. Our LIPI plan includes extensive safety protocols that have been approved by PPS and the State of Oregon.
We have begun planning for the return of more students in a Hybrid model, currently expected to begin by April 12. Bargaining between the district and our employee groups is underway and we will let you know more about the model and your options as we learn the details.
On February 12 Portland Public Schools sent all of our families a survey about the Hybrid model and whether or not you would want your child to participate in Hybrid instruction. As of today we have had 54% of you respond to the survey but we would like to see at least 80% of you respond. If you still have the link from February 12 please take a few minutes to reply. If you do not have the link you may contact research@pps.net to receive a new link. It would be very helpful to hear from all families. You are not committing yourself to any particular path but the information is very helpful for our planning.
Thank you.
John Horn
Principal
BLACK HISTORY MONTH EVENTS
"Dear Arleta families,
We want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to all of our celebrations all month long for Black History Month! It has been so amazing to see our community come together to uplift and celebrate Black history and Black excellence, especially during these unprecedented times. We express our deepest appreciation to our speakers Aidan Carter, Asukulu Songolo, and Arieanna Morehead for inspiring us to take action and push for racial justice not just this month, but every day! Thank you to all of our students, families, and community members who've submitted artwork, videos, and resources that we've shared on our website. If you missed our virtual assembly on Tuesday, here is the link to watch.
You have all made this month very special and one we'll never forget.
In solidarity,
Timisha Wilson, Aud Manansala, Kelly Greenberg, and Noah Johnson-Greenough

SUCCESSFUL SCHOOL SURVEY WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU
Greetings Arleta families!
It is that time of year again for our school community to share their experiences here at Arleta by completing the Successful Schools Survey. Your student(s) may have already taken part in the student portion of the survey, and now we are also inviting parents to provide their feedback as well. This survey helps inform us of how to be a more inclusive, caring, and equitable learning community and we truly appreciate your feedback.
To complete this survey, please visit this link: https://surveys.panoramaed.com/portlandor/ppsfamily and select Arleta from the list of schools to choose from. Please note that the survey must be completed in one sitting. Once you have finished, please press the blue ‘submit’ button to complete the survey.
The survey is available in all 5 PPS major languages and will be available for families until March 19th. Click the Successful Schools Survey Flyers link below to view in other languages. If you have any questions, please reach out to Aud Manansala (Arleta school counselor) at aumanansala@pps.net.
