COVID-19 Updates:
Cohorts and Recess: As we wait for the approval of vaccines for our students ages 5-11, elementary schools will continue to enforce safety measures like distancing and masking for all students. With that, schools will begin to look for safe ways to bring students from other classes together at times like recess to socialize and play while continuing to maintain distancing.
Events, Activities, Performances: Following updated guidance from OHA and ODE, and in our commitment to prioritize safety for our students and families, TTSD has made the following adjustments:
Schools will continue to limit non essential visitors and volunteers inside our buildings. We will update these plans in early November.
Schools will be postponing or hosting virtual family events (open houses, teacher conferences, carnivals, fundraisers, etc.).
All non-essential activities and field trips are on hold. The district will continue to monitor community metrics as well as the impact of COVID-19 exposures in our schools to inform these restrictions.
We will continue to provide updates to COVID practices and restrictions weekly in this newsletter.
TTSD COVID-19 Dash Board Update
Here is our weekly report on COVID-19 cases and quarantining representing all our buildings. Due to the increased reporting, individual schools will no longer be sending out a notification to all families when there is a positive case reported in their building.

Masks Required For All Indoor and Outdoor Activities
Masks are required for all coaches, spectators, and staff during indoor and outdoor athletic activities in the Tigard-Tualatin School District. As a community, we want to take every step possible to stay safe and make sure our student-athletes are able to continue to participate and enjoy their experiences. We want to make sure that our entire community does its part to stem the spread of COVID-19 so our doors remain open and our classrooms remain full of students. For more information, please see the attached athletic guidance from the OSAA. OSAA Guidance

Families with 5th Graders: Enter to be Oregon’s Kid Governor
Oregon’s Kid Governor® program (ORKG) is a statewide civics program for 5th graders supported through Oregon Secretary of State’s office. Timed to coincide with Election Day in November, every school and home school in Oregon is eligible to enter one 5th grader to run in a statewide election that other 5th graders will vote in. Classrooms can vote in the election, nominate a classmate to run for office or do both! Oregon’s Kid Governor nominees work with their classmates to create a campaign video about why they want to be Kid Governor, their leadership skills, a community issue they want to address, and a 3-point plan that will help 5th graders across Oregon make a difference in their communities.
Now entering its fifth year, ORKG continues to be an outstanding opportunity for developing leadership skills as students are immersed in a meaningful civics experience. There is no cost, and the program provides a full classroom curriculum and information for parents whose students choose to run. Students gain valuable knowledge of our state government, how to take action through civic participation, and how people of all ages can choose to participate in our democratic society.
