PV DECEMBER FOOD DRIVE FOR FOOD PANTRY

What a joy it is to serve our Franklin community as a school! We had the opportunity to hold another school food drive for Franklin residents in need. Thank you, Pleasant View students, parents, and staff for donating over 1,000 non-perishable food items to the Faith Presbyterian Church Food Pantry which feeds hundreds of Franklin residents every month! Please consider donating on a regular basis if you are able as there are 200-300 residents being served by this food pantry every month. As always, thank you Faith Presbyterian Church for your partnership. #BetterCommunity #pvpantherslearn #stewardship #fpspride

SNOW/COLD DAYS INFORMATION

As shared in last Friday’s District Newsletter here, Franklin Public Schools will treat Snow/Cold Days as “No School Days” this year. When a decision is made to cancel school due to inclement weather, we will work to notify families before 6am. The following are the ways we communicate the closing and where you can expect to see information:

  • Parents and Staff will be sent an email and phone call alert.

  • Students will be sent an email at their @franklinsabers.org account (4K, 5K, & up through 12th grade)

  • Closing information will be posted to our district and school webpages (in the “News” feeds).

  • Closing information will be posted to our district social media channels (be sure to like or follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram if you don’t already!).

  • Closing information will be shared with local media so that our information is included in the weather updates that occur on local news.

  • Staff note: In some circumstances, there may be situations where district staff are required to or asked to report to the buildings and this would be communicated from a direct supervisor or through our internal email.

COMMUNITY ED & REC WINTER GUIDE

The Community Ed & Recreation Department Winter Guide is now online! Check out all the programming we are offering! Registration is now open. Head to our website here where you can click on the Registration Guide to view our offerings OR jump right to the Registration Site to sign up! Please help us to share and pass this on to others

DRESS FOR THE WEATHER

All students are required to go outside for recess daily unless the windchill is below zero or it is raining. When the temperature is below 50 degrees students are required to wear jackets/coats. Please make sure your student is dressed properly for the cold weather with hats, gloves, scarves, boots and snow pants. Snow pants and boots are required to be worn in order for students to play in the snow. Classrooms stay together as a group on a designated area of the playground - if your child's classroom is assigned a grassy area, this makes snow pants and boots essential.

NEW ABSENCE REPORTING FORM

It is essential to note that student absences are now reported using THIS FORM. The Absence Reporting Form is also located as a button on the Pleasant View webpage and under the “Parents Information” section. This form will require you to enter your child’s six-digit student ID number and birthdate before you can report your child absent.

The Absence Reporting Form should be used to report ANY attendance change including late arrivals, early departures, and pre planned absences for both in-person and virtual students.

PLEASE WASH & ROTATE MASKS

Our students and staff are doing a great job wearing their masks each day! As we get into normal routines during the school year, one routine we would like to highly encourage is mask washing. We are seeing some students coming to school with masks that have not been washed in a few days. Please consider having your student rotate masks throughout the week and start each day with a clean, fresh mask. Mask effectiveness is best with a clean, dry mask each day.

LOST AND FOUND

CLICK HERE to see pictures of the items in our lost and found. This year we will be purging lost and found items more often so it’s important for children to keep close tabs on their belongings. It is also suggested that if possible, student items be labeled with the first and last name on it so that we can get it back to the student if it becomes lost. We are happy to announce that for the first time this school year, we have a FULL PTO board! Last week we announced that Dominique English took on our Vice President-Elect role and now Tamara Mathwig has agreed to take on the role of Secretary. We have a lot of great ideas and are planning and thinking up events that we can do safely. The next PTO event will not be until after the new year.

CATCH UP ON DISTRICT NEWS

Please be sure to read the newest District Newsletter that comes out now every Friday. You can access all the issues here. If you know of any children in Franklin ages 2-18, there is a weekly signup form to pick up food while schools are closed.
