Hello Preschool families! Happy Friday! This week marks the end of the Making Music and Exercise studies. The teachers are excitedly preparing for the new studies to begin next week. The four-year-olds will be studying Insects and the three and multi-age classrooms will begin their study of Gardening. Both studies have fun activities with valuable learning to take place.
Parents, I want to give you a heads up regarding a change to our Preschool calendar for the end of March. As a Head Start site, we are required to serve our students a specific number of hours. In order to meet the required number of hours, we will need to make up the time that has been missed by our snow day on 2/1. On our “Preschool Calendar” that you received at the beginning of the year, we have indicated possible days to be used for this purpose. Please note the following change: Preschool students will be in session for the full day, 8:00-2:00, on Monday, 3/29. This will make-up the snow day from 2/1. *If you would like to review the Preschool Calendar, please see the attachment at the bottom of this newsletter.
We have seen some improvement in the number of students arriving after 8:15. Thank you for your cooperation with having your child at school on time each morning. Our arrival time is 7:45-8:15 each day. We will continue our new procedure with our car loop closing promptly at 8:15. At that time, parents must park in our parking lot and walk your child up to the main entrance to be checked in. Thank you all for your cooperation.
Have a wonderful weekend!

VITA TAX CENTER TO OPEN FEBRUARY 9—NEW HOURS, NEW PROCEDURES
The Oak Ridge Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) is now in its fourth decade of helping community residents to complete and file tax returns. The 2021 VITA Tax Center will open on Tuesday, February 9th, and is again located at the United Way of Anderson County at 728 Emory Valley Road. The Center will be open from Tuesday through Saturday. The new operating hours are from 1:00-6:00 Tuesday through Friday and 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday. There will be no evening hours. For the safety of both taxpayers and volunteers, the Center will be operating on a virtual basis with no face-to-face contact. IRS paperwork with instructions will be available outside of the United Way entrance. Taxpayers will complete the paperwork and return it along with all required forms to the designated container at the United Way. IRS-certified volunteers will be available to complete tax returns. Paperwork can be picked up and returned ONLY during VITA Tax Center operating hours.
