National Readers Week Nov. 9-13 at Brightwood Elementary
Great Reading Promotion ideas from Brightwood Elementary
Monday, November 9th through Wednesday, November 11th: The Reading Committee at Brightwood Elementary is asking teachers to practice writing in a fun way by creating a “parking lot” using bulletin board paper. Teachers will post a question about a Guided Reading or a TDR (Teacher Directed Reading) story the class is reading this week. Students will write a reflection on their Guided Reading or TDR story. Students will also respond to one another's reflections.
Monday, November 9th – Students will Drop Everything and Read during the first 20 minutes of I/E time.
Tuesday, November 10th – Classes will take part in a Buddy Reading session with a different grade level.
Wednesday – Veterans Day – No School
Thursday, November 12th – WFMY News 2 is coming for our Read 2 Succeed Assembly!
Friday, November 13th – Students and teachers will dress up as their favorite book characters. The reading committee will be visiting classrooms to take pictures of these wonderful book characters.
