Closing Out the School Year
Parent Contact Needed
At this time of year, information regarding students in jeopardy of not passing a course is critical. We would like to identify all freshmen and seniors who are in jeopardy of not passing a course. Please identify those students who are currently at 66% or lower for their projected final grade. All teachers of 9th grade or 12th grade students will receive an email on Monday, May 7th with directions and the link for the Google spreadsheet.
Please submit the student names in jeopardy of failing no later than 2:30 on Friday, May 18th. Krissy Sanderlin is available to assist if you have difficulty locating the information or submitting via the Google form. Additionally, you are asked to begin contacting parents of students in jeopardy and document your contact in Synergy. Please contact the parents no later than Thursday, June 1st. While we are requesting this information specifically for 9th and 12th grade students, you can also review this information with all of your students.
Progress Reports: Quarter 4 Progress report window opens May 7th. Grades are due by noon on Wednesday, May 9.
Snow Days: The snow makeup deadline is fast approaching. May 31 is the last day to report makeup time. Please ensure your hours have been completely made up. If they are not, please complete a personal leave request for the remaining hours owed. If you need an update on your makeup hours, please email Terri Muench your request. She’ll get it back to you as soon as possible.
Room 227: As we are now a 1:1 school, desktop computers are being removed. Mr. McCollum needs to start this process in order to be finished before the opening of the 2018-19 school year. To that end, the computers in Room 227 will be dismantled this week. The reservation calendar for this room was removed some time ago, but if you made reservations for 227, please make alternative arrangements.
Heritage Week 2018: If you are interested in serving on the planning committee for Heritage Week 2018, please come to the ECC on Tuesday, May 8 at 2:35.
Citywide Advisers Conference: Registration is now open for the Activity Advisers Conference. This year’s conference theme is “I Love Advisers” , and the conference will be held on Tuesday, July 31 at Virginia Wesleyan College. While we are still confirming professional learning points, the schedule, and events for this year, you can sign up today using our online link found here.
I Make A Difference Award
This week's recipient of the I Make a Difference badge is Marieo Billups. Last week's winner, Gatsie Farmer writes, "I am honored to present this award to Marieo Billups. He has shown without a doubt to truly be worthy and earned this award. I first noticed him when we worked in the library together. A young man entered looking hurt and sorrowful, but this young man was anxious to see Mr. Marieo. The two talked and the young man left all smiles. Since that time I have observed several young men talking, following alongside and behind Mr. Marieo as he performs his duties especially in the cafeteria. Whether the conversation is about sports, small talk, his beloved Patriots, or life experiences, these young men want to hear. All smiles as they talk or just a smile with a fist bump from Mr. Marieo. Finally I asked Marieo why the young men did this. He replied, 'the kids told me I help them stay out of conflicts, mischief, and misbehavior.' We hear you and thank you Mr. Marieo. You make a difference."

Moving SharePoint Content to Office 365
DOT is preparing for the migration of the SharePoint-based department and school Intranet websites from their existing, internally hosted location to Office 365. The first phase of the migration will require staff to relocate their individual My Site and internal OneDrive files to their Office 365 OneDrive using the detailed instructions found here. Staff will receive one terabyte of data storage in their Office 365 OneDrive; however, it is recommended that staff members move only the files that are actually needed. My Sites will be set to read only on May 15 and access will be completely removed on June 18. Staff should move files before these deadlines. If you have any questions or concerns, please see Mr. McCollum, Erik, or Krissy.
