Week of October 5-9
We would like to thank those of you who attended college night and open house a week and a half ago. Each of these events were a huge success! We hope your questions regarding your child's academics and future education plans were answered during these events. This biweekly counseling newsletter contains valuable information regarding your child's academics. If you still have questions please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's counselor. PSAT/ SAT
All Juniors will be taking the PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) on October 14th. Freshman and Sophomores will take the PSAT this spring, Juniors will be taking the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) in the spring as well. There are no registration fees. We encourage students to utilize Khan Academy and take the PSAT practice test to prepare. Learn more about the PSAT/SAT at Lakeland here.
Math Center
The Math Center is now open for students needing extra math support. It will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays after school in B112 and B114 with help provided by two of our math teachers, Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Gilmore. Students are free to drop in with their math questions, no need to sign up!
Writing Center
The Writing Center is available during all lunches on Mondays and Thursdays in the Media Center Conference Room. Students are required to visit the Writing Center to make an appointment to utilize this great resource!
College Visits
College visits are available to all students at Lakeland. This is a great opportunity for them to learn more about the various colleges and universities in Michigan. If your student would like to sign up for any of the following college visits please have him/her see Mrs. Roberto in the Counseling Office. Students attending these visits will need permission from their teacher and have to makeup any missed work.
