NIS Weekly Update
October 16th, 2020
Celebrations
This week during our hawk time lessons students learned about mindfulness and focusing strategies to help students better engage with their studies as well as practice being in the moment. Through our Mind-Up lessons students have been learning about mindful awareness and will soon be working on developing these skills with each of their senses (listening, seeing, smelling, tasting, and movement) in the coming weeks. If you are interested in learning more about Mind Up please consider checking out the following link (Mind Up Resources).
During our professional development time on Friday, our educators spent the day 'sharpening the saw' to improve our service to our students! We spent time learning about our personalized learning tools and instructional materials with the districts new I-ready resource, literacy assistive technology as well as collaborating to develop common unit plans and assessments across each grade level. Consider asking your student about their I-ready math / reading practice and having them show you some of what they are working on with this new educational tool.
Please consider taking a moment to complete a brief communication survey (if you have not already) for our school -- your feedback is important to us!
