A Note from Mrs. Shostachuk 10/31/2021
Dear Central Road Families:
Our Fall Spirit Week was a huge success! We did not let the rain get us down! Both our students and staff had an amazing time together this week having a bit of extra fun while learning a great deal too. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Halloween weekend! Upon returning from it, we will be heading into the month of November which is hard to believe. Thank you for taking the time to read our weekly communication. We hope you enjoy your weekend while remaining healthy too. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Kindest Regards,
Joanna Shostachuk

Central Road Band morning rehearsals. These rehearsals are for all band students at CR. Rehearsal attendance is very important. Students need to attend rehearsals in order to prepare for the performances.
Days: Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, November 2 and will continue every Tuesday we have school.
Time: Rehearsals start at 7:45 a.m. Please arrive by 7:40. I will be at the front doors at 7:30. Please do not drop-off students before doors open. If you arrive after 7:45, you will need to ring the bell, at the front door, and enter through the office. Please note the office does not open until 7:45.
Location: Central Road Multi-Purpose Room (lunch room). There is no bus to morning band. Please drop off students at the front door by the main office.
Address: Central Road School 3800 Central Road, Rolling Meadows
What to Bring: Instrument, Sound Innovations Book 1, Folding music stand, a pencil, and all supplies needed for the school day. Please make sure your child’s name is on everything! Parents should make sure their student is wearing their self-certification document each morning when they arrive at school. Lanyards were sent home in supply bags. Please call the office if you do not have a lanyard for your child. Wearing the self-certification card indicates that the parent certifies their child is symptom-free.
Central Road Morning Orchestra Rehearsals Begin on Thursday, November 4th
Below is the information about morning orchestra rehearsals. These rehearsals are in addition to the 30 minute pull out lesson during the school day that your student has already been attending. If your student is going to miss rehearsal please email me ahead of time at brunol@ccsd15.net.
When: Every Thursday there is school beginning November 4th, 2021. Rehearsals will go almost to the end of the school year.

Where: Central Road MPR
Please drop students off at the front entrance

Students may not arrive earlier than 7:40am.
If students arrive after 7:50am they will have to buzz to get in the building via the front office which opens at 8:00am.
Covid Precautions: Rehearsals follow all the same safety guidelines as regular school
Parents should make sure their student is wearing their self-certification document each morning when they arrive at rehearsal.
Students must wear masks (covering their nose & mouth) during the entire rehearsal
Students will be seated at least 3 feet apart on a seating chart in order to maintain appropriate distancing and enable contact tracing
Transportation: There is no bus transportation to morning rehearsals. Students will need to be dropped off at CR for morning rehearsals. If transportation is difficult please email me to find a solution.
Equipment: Students need to bring their own instruments, Sound Innovations Book 1 (blue cover), any sheet music given to students, a pencil, a folding metal music stand, and self-certification lanyard. Please label everything with the student’s name.
Concerts:
Morning rehearsals enable us to play concerts. We will prepare concert music at morning rehearsals as a large group, so it is imperative that students come to morning rehearsals. Concert details have not been set yet. Thank you for your patience in another unusual year.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lisa Bruno

THANK A CENTRAL ROAD STAFF MEMBER
Teachers in general love this time of year. Central Road teachers and staff members take the prospect of beginning a new year to a whole new level. They prepare their classrooms, plan lessons, organize schedules, review student records, and think about all of the possibilities the year ahead holds. As much as we recognize their efforts and successes here at school, nothing means more to a teacher or staff member than a kind word from a student or his/her family. As we get the year underway, I invite you to take notice of the things you see your child's teacher do, hear your child's teacher say, or the things you hear your child gush with excitement about related to their teacher. We've included this simple form for you to submit should you feel so inclined to do so. Children in full day school spend more of their waking day with their teacher than they do with their parents. We thank you for entrusting your child with us! This is going to be a great school year.

Shield Testing Update
Shield testing continues to take place one time a week at Central Road. Please send all SHIELD Opt-Ins/Outs to at SHIELD@ccsd15.net.
Our district will begin a Test to Stay Program starting on October 25th. We will work through the steps together if/when the need arises at Central Road. Thank you for reading our district's communication regarding this optional program.
Students continue to sit 3 feet away from peers masked while learning indoors. Mask wearing outdoors continues to remain optional for students and staff. We have recently adjusted our indoor eating/seating arrangements as best as possible to ensure students are closer to 6 feet apart when eating.
Return to school with COVID-like symptoms (with no known exposure)
- If a person has a COVID symptom and goes home, in order for them to come back, we have to have a negative PCR COVID test and fever-free for 24 hours.
- If they have vomiting or diarhea, they need to be symptom free for 48 hours and have a negative PCR COVID test to return.
- If they have any other COVID symptom, they need to have a negative test to return.
- If they decide not to get a test after a symptom was identified, they can return after 10 days.
If you have any questions regarding your child's health, you may reach me at patela1@ccsd15.net or at 847-963-5102. We will work together to ensure all guidelines are followed and clearly understood while keeping our students all safe and healthy!
Thank you for your patience.
