The Weekly Update
Springfield Twp MS - Season 5, Episode 39 - Aug 4th
From the Principal
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our new incoming families, but especially the class of 2029, our incoming sixth graders. You can look forward to three years of engagement, fun, and learning at STMS. Earlier this spring, the middle school held an orientation for the families of rising sixth graders. If you could not make it, you can find a video of that orientation linked here! Additionally, we will host an orientation for all new students and their families on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 31, from 1:00-3:00 pm in the middle school Audion. We hope to see you there!
Summer Reading, Math, and the Supply List
Summer is almost here! All current 6th and 7th grade students who will be returning to STMS in the fall are eligible to check out up to 10 books for the summer from the STMS Library. Students were given permission slips in their ELA classes (click on the link for a digital copy if needed!). All permission slips should be returned to the Library by Friday, 06/10. Students can check out their books as soon as their slips are returned and until the end of the school year. ImPact Testing is a computer based test that we use to gather cognitive baseline information on every student athlete. This information is used as a comparative tool if a student athlete is suspected of having sustained a concussion. We require all rising 7th graders and new athletes to complete the baseline test, and require retesting every two years. Athletes that do not have an ImPact Baseline will not be permitted to participate until it has been completed. If your rising 8th grader participated in sports last year they will NOT need to take the ImPact test this year.
Your student can take the test this summer by following these directions ImPact testing directions. I highly encourage students to complete this in advance.
We will also have the following dates to take ImPact testing:
Tuesday September 6th 2:45 - 3:45pm (Football ONLY)
Thursday September 8th 2:45 - 3:45pm All Sports
