Dear RedHawk Families
I could not be happier with how our year started! We had a few glitches which we quickly solved, our new students got to know the building, and kids are feeling more confident each day. I'm proud of the work that our staff has done to help our kids feel that way, proud of the way our students have faced a new school year, and proud of the way our parents have been supportive.
I've got faith that this year is going to be a great one! While we sometimes seem like a divided country or community, there is more that brings us together. At Wredling, and in all of D303, that thing that brings us together is the determined drive to help our students learn and grow- academically, physically, and in their social-emotional skills.
If you think we have some divide that we can't overcome, I would encourage you to watch this short TikTok video. It sums up how I feel about our school and community. I have and will keep the faith.
Enjoy your weekend!
Tim

Wredling Families,
Throughout the day on Thursday, August 19th, we will educate our students on the school’s safety procedures including Evacuation drill (Fire Drill), Lockdown Drill, and Severe Weather Drill.
Following these discussions, staff and students will begin to practice these safety procedures with the fire department and police department being present. We will have school personnel to assist those in need. Should you wish your student not to partake in the lockdown drill please let Tim Swade, Student Support Coordinator, know via email tim.swade@d303.org by Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
Are you interested in being a Red Hawk leader?

Middle School Food Service
GREAT NEWS!
The cafeteria will be able to accept cash payments this year. They WILL NOT be making change for students. Any unspent funds will be added directly to the student's PushCoin lunch account as available funds for future purchases.
Just a reminder that lunches are free to all K-8 students. Only 1 lunch per student per day. Ala cart items (snack items) are not part of the lunch so students have to pay for those items
Students should pre-order their food using a Google form which will be posted on our website. Students can order meals between 6 pm the night before until 9:30 am that day. To order a meal, students need to be in a Chrome browser (or on their Chromebooks) logged into their D303 Google account. Only students can order meals.
Also students will have the opportunity to order breakfast for the next day and pick it up as they leave school. We will be reminding students to place their orders and pick up pre ordered breakfasts at the end of the day! Please call the main office if you have any questions.

Mental Illness: The Silent Epidemic
Zoom at 6:00 pm; Recording to be posted
Mark Potter is a nationally recognized basketball coach and speaker who is bringing his message to families in St. Charles. Mark grew up in Kansas, where he was a basketball and baseball stand-out. He played both sports at the collegiate level before moving into a career as a high school teacher and coach for 11 years. He then served as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at NCAA Division II Newman University for 19 years and has the distinction of being the winningest basketball coach in Newman’s history.
Thirteen years ago, Coach Potter began a downward spiral into a world of darkness. He missed eight games and 25 practices due to severe depression. He now brings his story to businesses and schools to promote education about mental illness. His passion is to share his story in hopes that people will also pursue treatment and find a way to live productively with mental illness.
Join the District 303 Parent University Webinar on September 2 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. as we welcome Coach Potter. Click here to register!
