Principal's Message
Happy New Year and welcome back. I hope you had a restful break. Students seemed eager and ready to learn when they walked in the door on Tuesday. As I visited classrooms, I could see they were immersed in their learning. All elementary teachers will concur that January through March are the most focused and productive months of the school year for our students.
The BEAVERS versus DUCKS versus OTHER GREAT COLLEGES Canned Food Drive was a tremendous success!! Despite the shortened week before the break, it was quite the competition. The final tally put the Ducks at 53 bags, the Beavers at 34 bags, and the other great colleges at 25 bags. With this result, Mr. Loerzel kept his beloved Duck gear on, Mrs. Perrigan and I, the sad losers, wore the Duck gear all day Friday. Although, we all agreed green and yellow didn’t do wonders for our complexion, we were a good sport and wore the shirts all day. It certainly wasn’t the happiest day for Mrs. Perrigan nor I but we thank all the students and families who joined in this fun competition. Thanks to you, we delivered 112 bags to the Oregon Food Bank. A special thank you to goes out to Mrs. Ray, Wendy Turinsky and Mandi Macaskill for their help with the logistics of the canned food drive.
Additionally, over the winter break, the Beaverton School District updated the bike/walk to school route for our school. Please refer to the map for the recommended route to and from school. Currently, the one mile walking radius is to the front of the school. With this adjustment, we have 38 additional bus riders.
Warm regards,
Sheila Baumgardner
