Report cards are going to be posted today on SIS for Grades 4-8. Lower grades receive their first official grade reports at the end of the semester. Please know that upper grade parents can view grades in between report cards on SIS, as well as viewing class assignments and news. All teachers post information for their classes on SIS. It is great to check there on a regular basis.

Coat Angels
Help keep Chicago's kids warm this winter!
Pilgrim is once again teaming up with Coat Angels, a local Chicago non-profit founded by former Pilgrim parent Micki LeSueur for our winter Seasons of Service Project. With a $50 donation, Coat Angels provides new coats, fleece jackets, hats, and gloves to kids in Chicago's most poverty stricken neighborhoods. For more information on this all-volunteer organization, check out the website at http://coatangels.org/
Here is how you can help. Pilgrim is collecting donations and selling "gift cards" if you would like to let someone know that you made a donation in their honor. A team from Pilgrim will then shop sales and discount stores, and bag and label the coats so they are ready for delivery. Will will also be coordinating some time with Coat Angels for delivery to schools. This is a great way to see the joy of this organization! We will also collect donations of NEW coats in sizes appropriate for school age children.
Contact Samantha Doerfler at samanthadoerfler@hotmail.com or Shellie Riedle at shellieriedle@yahoo.com for more information or to get involved and watch for more details and dates for shopping, bagging, and delivery of coats. Gift cards will be sold after the 10:30 service Sundays in November and will be available in the school office (dates to come).

Please contact Glenn Williams at gtwilliams67@gmail.com or Pete Gillespie at Peter.J.Gillespie@comcast.net for details.
Service Projects
Plans are in the works for Holiday service projects. Chapel take-out for this week was an appeal for used wool sweaters that you do not want so that those sweaters can be turned into usable items for others. Students also received a list of items so that students can put together holiday food bags for the Friendship Center. We will also be announcing soon information about the toy drive for children who might not otherwise have a present this Christmas. All of these efforts are options for your family to do service. Please choose the project that speaks to you and your family. Please do not feel that every family must contribute to every project. Individual classrooms will continue to work on their own service projects. Funding for classroom projects come from Pilgrim Kids Care.
Sulzer Family Foundation Grant
For the 42nd Year, Pilgrim has received a grant from the Sulzer Family Foundation. This year’s award for $2500 is designated for new programming at Pilgrim. Many thanks are due to the Sulzer Family Foundation for their support of programs at Pilgrim!

Pilgrim Grades 1-8 are visiting our partners at St. Paul’s on Dorchester on Wednesday, November 18. We will be worshipping together and engaging in some Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities together. This is a great opportunity for learning and fellowship. Please note that we will be eating lunch at St. Paul’s, so please have your child bring something to eat, especially if he/she has special dietary needs.

We are planning for the upcoming Open House for Tuesday, November 17, at 9:30 a.m. Please encourage friends and neighbors with school-age children to attend. We are also working on an advertisement in the January Chicago Parent Magazine schools edition. We encourage everyone to check out Pilgrim’s new website: www.pilgrimchicago.org. We would like feedback about the website. Our goal is to make the website meet the needs of current parents, as well as answer questions for prospective parents. Start brushing up on your trivia and thinking about who you want on your team of up to 8 people. There is a cash grand prize and more importantly, bragging rights! Look for sign-up information soon.
Yearbook
Pilgrim needs someone to moderate the Yearbook! If you would be willing to work with a group of upper grade students to gather ideas and photos to put together the 2015-2016 yearbooks, please let me know. The last two years, yearbook has used the Shutterfly website to put articles together and print the books. The moderator meets with the students on a regular basis until spring and then coordinates the printing of the yearbook. This is a wonderful way to work with a great group of students.
