Ms. EV's Students Finch Robot Project
Students learned how to code Finch robots to draw angles, move through mazes and create letters.
Students programmed the robots using Snap.
They coded the robots to move, change color and draw letters.
For their final project, they programmed their robots to move
through a maze they created.

Google Tour Builder-Ms. Smith's Spanish Classes
Students applied their Google Slides
skills to develop tours of famous Spanish speaking cities.
Students selected their cities and
planned a route around the famous sites in those cities.
Students learned how to
locate images of the famous sites and incorporate them into their presentations.
TIER Time Microbits Transformation Extension Activity with 8th Grade Math Students
Students programmed the Micro.bit controller.
They learned how to code the Micro.bit in Java block code
in order to create a review of geometric transformations.
One of the highlights of the session was when
students took opportunities to share their learning with their peers.
App Creation in TIER Time
In honor of Computer Science education week, students learned how to create apps using the MIT App Creator.

Lakeside Library Student Aides Have Been Editing Their Media Projects to Be Entered in the State Media Contest
Makerspace Activities
Maker Club Finch Soccer Game
Students in Maker Club programmed the Finches to play soccer.
Free Geek Arkansas visited with Maker Club to share about their work repairing computers for the community.
TIER TIme Makermas
Students worked with Makey Makey, which is a type of microcontroller. Over the course of 5 days during TIER time they created a variety of projects.
Students plugged in real world objects to the Makey Makey
to play drums
Students also turned the Makey Makey into a
game controller.
For their final project, students plugged in potatoes
to the Makey Makey to create a version of the Wack-a-Mole video game.

Holiday Hangout with Lakeside Hot Springs High School
Mystery Hangout with a Class in South London, England
Skype with Author Skila Brown
Dr. Arnhart's Spanish classes read Skila Brown's novel in verse
called Caminar, about walking out of a war zone in Central America.
They created artwork based on the content of the novel
Students shared their art projects with the author via Skype.

Lakeside Book Club-The L.B.C.
The L.B.C. met to select our next novel to read
Students voted on their Chromebooks and phones
after hearing about the books.
They voted to read Wolf by Wolf as our next novel
it is a revisionist history novel by Ryan Graudin.

Value Added Project: Collaborating with EAST to Fix Computers and Get Them to the Lakeside Community!
EAST and the LJHS Library cowrote a grant
from Economics Arkansas called Value Added.
Students are rebuilding computers
donated from the community.
They are working to add Open Source Software
to the computers before they are donated to families in the Lakeside community.
