Students got to hear about the Leadership lessons, and see all of the cool prizes they could earn throughout the process! Check out the picture below from the pep rally.

Counselor's Corner

Hello LVES Families! Lago Vista Elementary has formed a kindness coalition of 3rd grade students called Project Vinátta. This group of students will help implement and promote our campus-wide No Place for Hate® activities. Vinátta is the Viking term for friendship, and our first activity, called “One School, One Book,” will address the importance of including others and noticing when other students need a friend. When classrooms come to their guidance lesson, each class will be read aloud the same book, The Invisible Boy, by Trudy Ludwig. This book is about a boy named Brian who feels invisible. Nobody seems to notice or include him in their activities. When a new boy arrives at school and Brian is the first person to make him feel welcome, they become friends, and Brian no longer feels invisible. Students will have discussions and activities related to the book, and will learn how a simple act of kindness can change a child’s life.

Our character trait for the month of November is Giving. Sometimes the greatest gift you can give someone is to simply include them. :)
