Football 2022 - A Season for the Record Books!

What a run! It was a history-making season for the San Jacinto High School Tigers who won the CIF-SS D-6 Football Championship game, won the CIF State Division 3-AA Regional Championship game (49-42) and lost by two points in the CIF State Football Division 3-AA Championship Bowl game (34-36). News articles specifically mentioned standout players: Dereun Dortch, Dillon Gresham, and Alijah Afemata. Dortch, Gresham and Vincent Holmes were listed in a "30 Top Players to Watch at CIF State Bowl Championships" article!

We are incredibly proud of the entire team and coaching staff. Thank you to the SJHS Cheerleaders, Tiger Pride Marching Band and all of the SJHS Tiger fans for their support!

Tis the Season for Giving!

The District is blessed to have many community partners who generously give to our families! Seasonal highlights included the annual "Unstuff the Bus" event, the Soboba Gives Back Toy Distribution, the Spark of Love Toy Giveaway sponsored by the Riverside County Fire Department and Fire Station 78, and a Santa visit to the Foster Youth/McKinney Vento Advisory meeting and to our Elementary Special Education classrooms thanks to PetSmart and the Riverside County Sheriff's Department San Jacinto Station.

CBI Graduation Celebration

Friends and families gathered in the SJHS Theatre on December 15 to celebrate four students who are graduating from the Community Based Instruction (CBI) program. Each of these students finished their high school career with a certificate of completion and then continued for four additional years in the post-high school CBI program. Current teachers and retired teacher, Mr. Alan Breems were on hand to give words of encouragement to these students who have learned job skills and life skills and are prepared to be positive influences in our community! Congratulations to all!

STAFF SHOUT OUTS & KUDOS

KUDOS TO:

AIMEE STILL (Teacher, San Jacinto Leadership Academy): Aimee has worked tirelessly this year helping to service SJLA's ELD population. She single-handedly oversees all our ELD students on campus and makes sure they have the tools needed to pass the ELPAC. She consistently encourages them and works extra hard with those who are close to passing. She does way more work than she's given credit for!

KYLE SPEARMAN (Instructional Aide, Monte Vista Middle School): Kyle goes above and beyond for the Tier 3 students at Monte Vista. He is meeting the demands of our students who need it the most. He ensures that they always get the support they deserve.

THERESA GONTER (Counselor, San Jacinto Leadership Academy): Theresa takes the extra time to support students with failing grades. She worked with students in a small group setting over the course of a few weeks to help them get caught up. One student even took the time to write a personal note of thanks and appreciation for her time, support, and encouragement.

ISAAC HAY (Tutor, Mountain Heights Academy): Isaac takes pride in his work and goes above and beyond for his students. Often you will see him, after his shift is over, helping students understand math concepts. He adjusts his instruction based on student needs and doesn't make them feel incompetent. He made a series of math videos for our students to use and looks for other ways to support teachers and students. Thank you, Isaac!
