Emotional and Behavioral Disorders: A 6-Day Training Series
This 6-day professional development series is designed to build competencies for educators working with students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. Designed around the NH Department of Education standards for certification as teacher for student with emotional and behavioral disabilities, this series will progress from foundational knowledge about EBD through assessment and eligibility decision and end with extensive information on intervention, including strategies for improving academic instruction, environmental supports, and behavioral programming.

April 3, 2019: Evaluation and Eligibility Decisions
May 1, 2019: Principles of Behavior and Systematic Observation
May 29, 2019: Diversity, Collaboration, and FBAs
June 21, 2019: Linking FBAs, Executive Skills and Interventions
June 25, 2019: Interventions and Transitions
Overall outcomes:
Participants in this series will be able to:
Describe the characteristics for multiple tiers of interventions for students with emotional and behavioral difficulties
Identify data necessary to ask/answer appropriate referral questions
Provide and analyze Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), classroom observations and other appropriate data
Identify the instructional implications of commonly used psychological assessments
Participate in the determination of eligibility process for students with emotional and behavioral disabilities
Describe the characteristics of students with emotional and behavioral disabilities including anxiety, depression, trauma and other conditions
Develop and implement a range of interventions to support classroom management, individual behavioral plans, de-escalation strategies, supervision of paraprofessionals and associated data collection.
Who Should Attend:
Special education staff including Case Managers, Building Coordinators, School Counselors and Directors, as well as related service providers such as speech pathologists and school psychologists.

Cost for the 6-Day Session is $750.00 per person
If sending a team, each person is required to register individually

About the Presenters
Nathaniel Jones, Christina Flanders, and Peter Whelley, primary presenters for this series, are school psychology consultants with SERESC and bring many years of combined experience in working with students with emotional and behavioral disorders. Beyond their work as school based practitioners, they are all past presidents of the NH Association of School Psychologists, have worked on state level initiatives for public education, and provided professional development at the state and national level. Additionally, all three have been awarded the NH School Psychologist of the Year and Dr. Jones is currently the national School Psychologist of the Year.
