DFES - Where Wonders Grow

Inquiry Matters Conference

The Center for Inquiry (CFI) hosted an Inquiry Matters Conference Saturday, April 5. An absolutely mind blowing experience in the most positive manner. We had a total of 9 DFES staff members represented. We all were able to construct news ideas and learning as a result of our time thinking together.

One aspect that we will definitely talk more about in time to come is social justice. Given the nature of our magnet theme the impact that we could have around social justice has the potential to be positively life altering for us as a school. You may be wondering what does social justice actually mean? If curious begin an inquiry before we discuss this collectively.

Finally there is a thought process and a belief that is hopefully embraced by our faculty/staff as we establish our magnet program and it is this:

  • DFES Academy of Environmental Sciences is a place where we are not striving for what is typical but rather a place where we are striving for what is possible.

We will look to build upon the work done with homeroom teachers on March 26 in regards to creating/developing a sequence of units of study for our magnet program.
