Second Grade Musical

Your students are anxiously preparing for their upcoming program on Tuesday, May 17th .


Here are a few hints to help prepare for the big day.


Time: 7:00 pm (students should arrive at 6:30, please do not comeearlier as the building will not be open before 6:30)


Where: Norwood Cafeteria (students will assemble in the music room no earlier than 6:30)


Attire: All students are to wear brown and/or black clothing to become our “Wild Things”

What's Going On This Week?

Language Arts


Reading:

  • We will discuss central message in fairy tales and fables. We will also discuss point of view.


Writing Workshop:

  • Students are nominating a book to win an award. Examples of awards students have created are "Most Detailed Book", "Best Pictures", and "Best Cover". If your child would like to bring in a book from home to use during Writing Workshop, feel free to send to school with your child. Lessons this week include making comparisons, writing introductions and conclusions, punctuation, and keeping the elaboration going.



    Math

    Our module 9 post test is currently scheduled for Monday 5/16. Lessons this week will focus on investigating 3D shapes, making 3D shapes, extending the count on strategy for 3 digit numbers, and adding two & three digit numbers.



    Social Studies

    We will learn about bodies of water. Students will also create their own map including landforms and bodies of water. We will also discuss the positive and negative effects on the environment. We will also discuss various cultures.
