Principal's Message
We have some wonderful events coming up this month. These are great opportunities to get involved, so mark your calendars! We are starting the month with Walk and Bike to school- an event to encourage students to get moving. Our PTA will host Parent Movie Night where we will view the film Race to Nowhere and engage in a meaningful discussion.
We will host our first English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting on Tuesday, October 8th at 8:15am. This will be an opportunity for parents of multilingual students to come together and discuss supports for students.
Our school is participating in the Global Read Aloud. Our students are participating in an author study, enjoying read alouds of books from author Yuyi Morales. This week students are reading Dreamers and making dream catchers during library visits.
Next week's read aloud is:
Just a Minute: Trickster Tales and Counting Book
(see picture above)
5th grade science camp
Our 5th graders have been in Loma Mar for the Outdoor Ed Science Camp. Students will return to Murwood on Friday, October 4th. We will send a text to notify you of their arrival time.

Walk/Bike to School Day at Murwood is October 9th!!
Walk to School Day is next Wednesday, October 9th. We need volunteers to help make this event a success. Click on this link to sign up to volunteer. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C054BACAB2EA4FC1-walk
We will have the privilege of having a special guest greet the children at the font of the school as they arrive. Prizes will be awarded to anyone showing up to school on foot, bike or scooter. And remember that the class with the highest participation will earn an extra recess!
**For those of you who live too far away to walk, there will be a "Walking Train" starting from the Park & Ride Lot on Rudgear Road. Please plan to be parked and ready to walk by 8:35am.
