PTA Reflections: Call for Entries!
ENTRIES due THIS FRIDAY October 22,2021 by 3:30 pm. Please turn in to your teacher or to the office. Thank you!
The 2021–2022 Reflections theme is I Will Change the World By…
It was wonderful to see so many families stop by the Reflections booth at the Pioneer Blast Off! The National PTA's Reflections program allows our children to explore their own ideas, feelings, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning and the arts. Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts. Enjoy this video from the national PTA to get your child inspired https://youtu.be/R6kx-a2HpWs
Students participate in the appropriate division for their grade: Primary (Pre-K - Grade 2), Intermediate (Grades 3-5), or Special Artist (All grades welcome). Students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 may enter in the Special Artist Division or grade division most closely aligned to their functional abilities. The student entry forms went home in the backpack mail the week of 9/20/21. Additional Reflections entry forms are located in the Prisk office. Your child can submit their entries with their completed entry form to their teacher or you can drop off their entry with their completed entry form to the Reflections basket in the Prisk office. **The call for entries due date is Friday, October 22, 2021**
For more inspiration, please visit the Prisk 20/21 Reflections virtual gallery at www.artsteps.com
1. Go to www.artsteps.com (this is a FREE website to explore various virtual art galleries)
2. Search for our gallery "20-21 Prisk Elementary School - Reflections Art Virtual Gallery"
3. Press the "triangle PLAY" button at the bottom of the screen to "start the guided tour"
4. There is a map of the virtual gallery in the bottom left hand corner
5. By clicking on each art piece, you can see artists details and their "artist statement"
All student entries will be recognized at the Prisk Reflections Celebration in Spring, 2022. Answers to received questions...
-Yes, you can submit multiple artworks in the same category or in different categories (you need an entry form for each submission)
-All entries are individual artist original works. If you want to perform a group piece (dance, music, etc.), only the choreographer, music composer, etc. is the "submitting artist" (this child will complete the entry form, write the artist statement, and choreograph the routine/ write the music/ etc.)
-At the elementary school grade divisions for music composition, original student entries may be for voice, instruments, or a combination of both, focused on the national theme, submitted in MP3 or MP4 format not to exceed 5 minutes (Note: middle/high school grade divisions require notation)
-Visual arts entries must be an original print, drawing, painting, collage, metal etching or punchwork, fiber work or computer-generated artwork that relates to the current Reflections program theme
-Insider's Tip: Provide an awesome artist's statement that explains how your artwork relates to the theme. Judges take the artist's statement very seriously. A little extra time here goes a long way!
-Feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions or want the official rules/ regulations for any category about this amazing program to inspire the arts in our children. Thank you!

Drop-Off & Pick-Up on Rainy Days
If students want to wait with their families in their car (or other safe/dry location) until 8:57, then they can go straight to class when the 8:57 bell rings.
Students who participate in the breakfast program will still be able to eat in the cafeteria beginning at 8:30, but students MUST be eating in order to be allowed to enter.
At the end of the day, all of the usual exit gates will be open. And as always, the lunch benches are available for students whose parent/guardian has not yet picked them up. If the rain is too heavy for the lunch benches, we will use the auditorium or cafeteria instead.
