SGE Family Newsletter
For the Week of May 9-13
Estimados Padres,
Gracias,
Mrs. O’Hair
Directora de la Escuela Elemental de Shady Grove

Behind the scenes at SGE last week...
It was a week of celebrating! This past week was Teacher Appreciation Week, School Nurse Appreciation Day, and School Lunch Hero Day!
Thank you to the many, many families who joined in celebrating our incredible crew here at SGE! A tremendous amount of time, energy, thought, dedication, craft, and love go into this line of work. Our teachers choose to be here each day because they want to be here, but it sure is nice to feel appreciated! Thank you for loving on our faculty and staff!
Sending a shout-out to our PTO who pampered our teachers with gifts, food and drinks! Teachers also enjoyed donated food and snacks from Domino's, McDonald's, Oaks Nursing Center, and Jo Powell!
Ongoing Reminders and Quick Links
Birthdays!
Is your child celebrating a birthday? Feel free to send individually wrapped birthday treats for your child's class. The teacher will serve them at an appropriate time according to each class's end-of-day schedule.
Please keep in mind the "individually wrapped" condition when planning the treat to send with your student. Individually wrapped treats minimize exposure to extra handling.
Car Line Reminders
-Are you parking on Harvey St. by the grove of trees to drop-off in the morning? If so, please walk your child to a staff member in the front of the building rather than sending him/her to walk alone. Please also avoid blocking residential driveways and bus traffic.
-No in-person pick-up after 3:00pm until the car line is finished. As we work to dismiss our students in a timely and orderly fashion, we must keep the front entry/exit doors uncrowded. As a result, parents needing to check their students out must do so before 3:00pm or after the car line is finished.
Other general reminders:
-Help us keep the line moving as quickly and safely as possible by staying in your car, seating your student on the right side of the vehicle, and giving goodbye hugs and kisses before the drop-off line!
-If adults need to exit the car for any reason (to walk student in, to help student unbuckle, etc), please park in a parking space and walk your child across the crosswalk.
