Ortega’s Oration
Dear Bryan High Community,
As we wrap up our first semester and the 2021 year, we are thankful for a wonderful school community and are grateful that we have students, staff, and a community who have done their part to help us remain safely opened throughout this pandemic.
We continue to support all our students in their transition back to in person learning by pre-teaching, re-teaching, and reinforcing our expectations. As a result, we have seen the far majority of our students appropriately settle into their new daily routines and establish positive relationships with each other and with their teachers. However, we invite and expect ALL our students to be responsible, safe, and respectful every single day. Following Thanksgiving recess, we did a school-wide reset to re-teach and reinforce expectations, and we will do so again following winter break and spring break as we know students benefit from multiple learning opportunities to reach mastery level.
We invite and expect all students to be responsible and attend school daily unless they are ill. We invite and expect all students to be safe and get to class on time and remain on school grounds. We invite and expect all students to be respectful by being courteous to staff when directed. Thank you for your continued support in ensuring your student is responsible, safe, and respectful at Bryan High every single day!

Academies in Action: Freshman Academy
Building Relationships: Since their first day at Bryan, freshmen have been building relationships with teachers and peers. Students used teamwork in their Freshman Seminar class to build towers. Teaming the freshman class is yielding impactful results--currently, 86% of BHS freshmen are On-Track to graduate in May of 2025 and have a 95% attendance rate!

Getting Involved: Research shows student involvement in clubs, activities, and athletics increases classroom achievement. Here in Freshman Seminar class, students put together puzzles and discuss "The Bigger Picture" and different ways they can get involved at Bryan High. Get involved and keep achieving, Bears!

Preparing for College and Careers: Academies help students and their families better plan for college and careers after they graduate high school. This fall, all Bryan freshmen took college and career interest surveys to concentrate their focus on their futures. They used their Seminar class puzzle pieces activity to also discuss "The Bigger Picture" of post-graduation life.
