A Message from Mrs. Garrison
Dear Powell Families,
Yesterday our Governor, Greg Abbott, issued an Executive Order closing schools for the remainder of the year. Conroe ISD’s academic year will be completed through distance learning. I will keep you updated as we learn more from the State. We know this closure presents challenges to each and every household. Please contact us if you have questions or needs. Our meal distributions will continue through May. Additionally, we have social/emotional resources on our Parent Resources webpage in addition to the academic activities.
We loved seeing all of the Kindness Rocks you created last week! This week our Hump Day Challenge benefits the Montgomery County Food Bank. Please check our facebook page on Wednesday morning for details! It has been amazing to see the digital products our students have been able to complete at home. Thank you again for your help and guidance with your child during this time.
MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS
Announcements from home continue to be a bright spot in everyone's day. More dates have been added to the sign up! In the interest of fairness, please do not sign up if you have already participated. We appreciate the opportunity to connect with our families in this way.
GRADES
District and campus administrators along with curriculum experts have been developing grading guidelines for the fourth nine-weeks. These guidelines provide that students will not be placed at a disadvantage as a result of the current situation and the fourth nine-week’s grade will not be lower than the third nine-week’s grade. To view the complete grading guidelines documents for elementary/intermediate and secondary, please visit our Policies, Handbooks, and Forms webpage. Don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions.
SUMMER MOVERS
If you will be moving between now and the start of the 20-21 school year, please contact our Registrar, Michelle Lutes, at mlutes@conroeisd.net. We want to ensure your child has a smooth transition to their next school.

2020-2021 Powell Class Placement Survey
We are planning for next year! The teachers and administrative team at Powell Elementary utilize input from a number of sources when making a class placement decision for the upcoming school year. We try very hard to match your child's educational needs with our teachers' instructional styles. You may hear information from neighbors and friends recommending specific teachers. However, we feel we can best match teaching and learning styles with our careful placement criteria. A specific teacher may only be requested if an older sibling has previously been in the teacher's class. We believe that all our teachers are outstanding and that each classroom provides a unique learning experience. Your input is also important to us. Please complete this form no later than Monday, April 27th at 8:00 AM. The form will be disabled at that time and no late responses will be accepted. Every effort will be made to accommodate your request, however, a request does not guarantee placement.
