MES NEWS!
News & Notes from Ms. Kapuchuck
December 5, 2021
Dear Families,
I hope that all of you are enjoying the weekend!
This past week of school has been filled with so much fun and LEARNING! On Friday morning, we had a school-wide STEM Day! Our RCPS Science Supervisor, Tammy Stone, planned this event for our students and it was incredible. Students coded robots, learned about water sheds, engaged hands on with electricity, built card towers, experimented with the weight of a toy car to make it down a ramp and to the finish line, made snow, and so much more! Please ask your child about this event. One student told his teacher "This was the best day ever!!" There was SO much joy in our hallways and classrooms all morning.
Our next exciting event is December 17th! MES will transform into a school-wide Gingerbread Jamboree.
Our incredible Ms. Ernest will also be leading students in a holiday sing-along during their music class time the week of December 13th. We will be sending out a link for parents to view the recording. We ask that you please not share the video on social media for copyright reasons.
Thanks so much to all of you who sent in apple cider, marshmallows, whipped cream, caramel squares, and more for our 12 days of Holiday Cheer!! All of the slots were filled quickly!
Please read below for important information about upcoming events! There's so much going on during the month of December. It will go by fast! Have a great week, and as always, please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you need anything! I am always here to support you and your child.

RCPS COVID-19 & Health Plan Information
You can find the RCPS reopening information by clicking here. You can find the RCPS health plan here.
We continue to follow the same health and safety procedures as last year when it comes to COVID-19. Thank you for understanding that all of our schools in RCPS are following this plan in order to maintain the health and safety of our students and staff. We appreciate your patience, flexibility and understanding as we navigate this "new normal".
As COVID numbers in our area are rising we need to come together as a team to keep our children healthy and safe.
DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL IF:
They have to take any medications to make them feel better or reduce fever
They have had a fever of 100.4 or higher in the last 24 hours
They have a bad cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, a runny nose that will soil more than 2 masks per day
Someone in your household is sick and being tested for COVID
If you think that you have been exposed to COVID, DO NOT send the child to school without consulting the school first.
If you are unsure of household contact or have any questions as to whether or not your child should attend school, please call the office at 540-289-3004 and ask to speak with the school nurse.
Thank you for helping us to keep all of our students and staff safe and healthy!
Breakfast and Lunch is FREE for all students! Menus are below!
Transportation Changes- IMPORTANT!
Any same-day transportation changes during the school year must occur before 1:30pm. Please make sure these are taken care of through the office, rather than contacting the teacher, so that we can ensure your child gets home safely! Often, teachers do not have time to check messages and email during the day, so it is important that these changes are communicated to the office. The office will take care of making sure teachers know of the transportation changes.
