Connecting the Dots!
NC NTSP November Newsletter, 2022
A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear friends of education,
It is my pleasure to introduce a new communication tool provided by the North Carolina New Teacher Support Program. Each issue will feature valuable information to a wide variety of stakeholders. Educators will benefit from timely instructional strategies, emerging trends and stories of success from colleagues across the state. District and school administrators should expect to read about novel approaches centered around university-community partnerships. The purpose of this newsletter is twofold - elevate the profession by nurturing leadership opportunities and highlighting promising practices emerging from productive university and PSU partnerships.
Please join me in reading about promising partnerships in the Charlotte and Appalachian State regions that have lead to broader distribution of comprehensive induction support provided by NC NTSP. Regional newsletters from the Pembroke and Chapel Hill Regions provide teachers with an opportunity to reflect purposefully and feed their creative appetite. The NC NTSP Instructional Blog and Podcast leverage familiar media to inform educator practice and entertain. Lastly, take note of the Save-the-Date announcement for the NC NTSP e-Institute scheduled for February 2023. We hope to build on the productive networking and stellar professional development initiated in October.
As always, we appreciate your commitment to support early career educators through a partnership with NC NTSP and look forward to highlighting your districts’ efforts in issues to come. Please reach out to learn more.
Respectfully,
-Pat Conetta
OUR UNIVERSITY PARTNERS
UNIVERSITY PARTNER HIGHLIGHTS
Appalachian State University Region
The Appalachian State University North Carolina New Teacher Support Program regional team is off to a great start this school year! Our team has grown again from four coaches to five coaches, and we are now serving over 150 teachers in 12 public school units! We were excited to bring on three new partners this year, and of course we welcomed a new team member with open arms! This year, we are focusing on fine-tuning a blended coaching approach, in order to meet the varying needs of our partners. We are also working as a team to fine-tune our group norms, so that we are continually learning and leading together in an inclusive and intentional way.
Please contact Regional Director, Betsy Rosenbalm, at rosenbalmem@appstate.edu, if you have BT support needs in the northwest region of NC!
Charlotte Region
The Charlotte region continues to grow our partnerships with school districts in the Southwest Education Alliance. This year, the Charlotte region is supporting teachers in seven districts, nine charter schools, and UNC Charlotte's lab school. We have a tremendous team of 11 highly-qualified instructional coaches providing support to more than 375 teachers.
Learn more about the support provided by taking a look at our most recent regional newsletter linked here. https://www.smore.com/2s9w4
