Love One Another
Jesus taught us to love one another. it always comes down to just that...loving one another. When we fail to do so, communication breaks down and disagreements happen. On this Valentine's Day and everyday, let's remember to teach our children love and kindness.
Valentine's Day Dress-Down - Tuesday
For a $1 donation to Student Council, all students and staff are invited to dress down sporting their red and pink in honor of Valentine's Day.
Roughrider News Briefs:
- Thank you for sending in food items for Lansing Roundball Food Drive. Tomorrow, Friday, is the last day items may be accepted. All Lansing schools are participating in the food drive benefiting the Lansing Food Pantry. St. Ann School has brought in the most items for the past two years, and we'd love to "three-peat." In addition, we have a friendly competition going on among our classrooms to see which class can bring in the most.
- Speaking of competition, our recent Penny Wars was a great success raising $1393.28 for Student Council. Each class brought in pennies for their classroom jar; later in the week they brought in other change and currency in hopes of driving down competing classes' point total. The students were ferocious! The result of the fun was a successful fundraiser! Congratulations to first place 6th Grade who ended up with a total of 12,665 points and second place class 3rd Grade with 7,249 points. A special thank you to our Student Council and Mrs. Summerrise, Mrs. Hess, and Mrs. Lomeli who assisted with the count.
- Please join us at the next Home and School Association Meeting this Monday night at 7 p.m. Enter door C3.
- Progress reports will go home on Wednesday, February 15th.
- Please remember there will be no classes on Friday, February 17th...see note below. In addition, there will be no classes on Monday, February 20th in observance of Presidents' Day.
- On Friday, February 24th, our sixth, seventh, and eighth graders along with their teachers will be attending the 39th Annual Archdiocese African American Heritage Prayer Service at Holy Name Cathedral. This year's theme is "Unity: Worship From Our Roots." We are very honored to attend this special event with our fellow Catholic schools throughout the Archdiocese. Permission slips will be going home soon.
- Please join us at the Grade 4 Family Mass on Sunday, February 26th at 10:30 a.m.
- "J" Club Bookfair orders should go out within the next few weeks, for those who placed orders.
- Please keep clipping box tops; every little box top adds up to BIG money!
- Our next Supper Club will be at Schoops in Munster on Tuesday, February 28th. See you there!
Did You Buy Your Ticket Yet? Please Join Us!
We'd love to see all of our school families at our annual fundraiser. This year's "Night at the Palace" promises to be fantastic! Tickets are currently on sale for $50 each. The price includes a sit-down family dinner and open bar. The Dream Palace is owned by one of our school families and is the perfect elegant venue for this event. There will be music for all generations, a live auction, raffle baskets, a 50/50 split the pot raffle, and a gift card and wine "pull." If the school sells at least 160 more tickets from our 200 goal, we'll earn a day off of school courtesy of our Fr. Bill.

Thank You, Mr. Kabala, (St. Ann Alumnus - Class of 1969)
On Sunday, January 29, parishioner and St. Ann Alumnus Mike Kabala, donated copies of two American history documents to St. Ann School. Accepting the gift, in celebration of Catholic Schools Week is Principal, Mrs. Bonnie Hall. Pictured: Mr. Kabala is holding a framed copy of the Declaration of Independence and Mrs. Hall is holding a copy of the U.S. Constitution. Both documents will be displayed proudly in the school. God bless the USA!
Reminder: Calendar Change (February 10/February 17)
Please be advised that there will be a calendar revision in February:
- February 10, 2017 we will be in session. There will be a junior high dance from 5-8 p.m.
- February 17, 2017 we will NOT be in session. This a teachers' In-Service Day. Our teachers will be attending a Technology Summit for Catholic Schools co-sponsored by Marian Catholic High School and Apple that day. That evening there will be an HSA sponsored Daddy/Daughter Dance in the St. Ann School Hall from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Details to follow.

Emergency Closing Information
In the event of school closure, we utilize the following in order to get the message out:
- http://www.emergencyclosingcenter.com - You can sign up to receive an email from this website shortly after I notify the site of a closure. This is the service that the newscasts utilize to notify the Public of a school closing. When you see the "crawl" at the bottom of a newscast, it came from this website that principals update.
- SchoolMessenger Phone Call - A recorded message is sent to your specified numbers
- Facebook - Like us at Saint Ann Catholic School, Lansing
- Remind - Teachers often will post a closure to their Remind texting accounts
- Please do not call the school to see if school is open; more than likely we are not at school when the decision for an emergency closing is made.
