Weekly Wildcat
August 27, 2021
Dear Sundance Families,
Our wildcats enjoyed their first X-Ploration class today! We have an exciting week ahead as we launch our first Mindful Monday of the school year. Our Mindful Monday includes a mindfulness moment, student and staff birthday recognitions, the dance of the month (two-step), and much more! Our wildcats in K-5th will take the iReady assessment. iReady provide adaptive lessons based on how your child performs on the assessment - please remind your child to show their work, take their time, and try their best.
Thank you to our entire community for keeping our students safe! If you missed our meeting this morning, I've included the health and safety slides here. Although parent volunteers are not allowed in the classroom at this time, there are many ways to support on-campus. If you'd like to help our librarian, prep materials in our parent room, or help with running club, we would love for you to complete this brief form linked here. We ask you to continue to:
- Walk your child across the parking lot rather than crossing alone
- Say goodbye to your child at the kindergarten gate -TK/K only
- Driving slowly through our parking lot
- Pulling all the way into spots if you are parking in the lot (large trucks and SUVs should park on the left side of the lot so that buses can pass)
- Leave your pups at home - we love dogs but they are not permitted on campus
We currently have two School Site Council (SSC) openings at Sundance. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else, please click here. SSC will meet 6x per year via zoom to discuss our school plan, budget, LCAP input, and much more.
I hope to see all of you during our virtual Back to School Night! Have a wonderful weekend!

RUNNING CLUB - Returning to Sundance + Volunteers Needed!
Running Club will start this Fall, the exact date will be announced soon! We do need a few more parent volunteers in order to start! Please contact Chiyo Padilla (happydebeso@gmail.com) if you are able to dedicate one hour each week to count laps during morning recess for the 1st through 5th graders (10:00am-11:10am, M/W/F). Once Running Club starts, please remember to have your child(ren) wear athletic shoes when we run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during morning recess time. The kids are invited to eat their snack and then come run/walk laps at the lower field, where their mileage will be tracked. This parent volunteer and Twin Trails Foundation supported program encourages kids to get exercise and be rewarded with collectible foot charms and other prizes.
*Volunteers must provide proof of vaccination or a negative covid test within 1 week prior to volunteering

A Memo From Our LMT
Our Chromebook distribution is underway! If you have a TK-2nd grade student, they will be using Chromebooks in the classroom! The classroom teachers in these grades will have a Chromebook cart with enough Chromebooks for every student. For accountability purposes detailed in the signed Chromebook Use Agreement, teachers will have students use the same device each time and devices will remain at school.
If you have a 3rd-5th grade student and signed the Chromebook Use Agreement during registration, your student will be bringing home a device. The device and charger will be checked out to your student through our library system and will remain in their possession through 7th grade or upon leaving the district, whichever occurs first. Students will transport devices to and from school each day. Here are a few tips to help you and your student:
Make sure plug in and charge your device each day upon returning home.
Do Not remove the protective case for any reason.
Do a full shutdown at least once each week (Friday is a great day!)
