THE VALLEY View
BACK TO SCHOOL EDITION- 09.03.2020
UPDATES & THINGS TO KNOW
COVID=
-CANS and CANNOTS. Please use this document to read the information put together and shared by Dr. Shelton today. This is the "black & white" document I was asking him for this morning.
-Amy and I will be coming around to classrooms on Friday to look at our spaces and classrooms to be sure we are meeting these guidelines from the district.
Lunch=
-BASS has been added to the end of our lunch schedule so that the students in full day care have access to lunch.
- I met with Heather, our new cafeteria manager, and she shared that second entrees will be available, but no a la carte snack items as of yet.
- The federal government has approved the extension of the grant used to pay for student meals over the summer. All students will be able to have a free lunch and breakfast, through 12/31/2020. This also means that we will NOT have to worry about breakfast/lunch rosters for first semester!
Absences=
- Sub folders- due by Friday, 9/18. See Wendy if you need a folder. :)
- If you have any type of absence, please enter the absence AND email both Wendy and Rachel to let them know. :)
- If you need to use the 90 minute window provided by the district, please use this form to make that request.
Dismissal Changes=
- The car rider students will dismiss from the library, to allow social distancing while they wait.
- They will exit the library door to the car rider lane.
- ALL classes with bus riders will exit the Kids Country doors, near the cafeteria. We will dismiss by grade level over the intercom, in order to stagger the number of students in the hall.
Misc=
- ASIRT Training moving to SafeSchools this year. There will not be an in person ASIRT training for at least the first semester.
- Mrs. Wadel is working through how to separate and store art supplies. Just a head's up-- we may have "art boxes" that are like school boxes, but strictly for art supplies for their first quarter projects. We are working through the storage piece of this but we may have some totes/buckets that hold these art supplies. Updates will be coming soon.
- The new SVE Staff Handbook is in progress and will be shared with you upon completion. Thank you for the patience as we work through new procedures and guidelines.
- Donna Steele, paraprofessional specialist from LifeSkills, will now serve the CLASS program at SPE. We will miss you, Donna!

Health Room Updates- From Robin
1. All persons/students entering the HR will have a temp check prior to entering
2. If we have a Covid suspect with at least two of the following symptoms: temp, sore throat, cough, respiratory distress, the HR would like a call/radio to meet that person prior to entering the HR for evaluation.
3. If we should have a student who is a suspect, it will be a designated person, not HR staff that will sit in the precaution room with the student. There will be a 15 min documentation/assessment while the student is in the room. At every 30 minute interval the parent will be called; after that interval the admin will be notified. For any 1:1 student, the para will enter the precaution room with all PPE equipment for both student and para. She will document every 15 minutes until parent arrives. If student should need to use the restroom, the staff restroom outside the work area will be used and Terrell will clean after restroom is used.
4. Medically Fragile will not be able to have students going through their classroom for entry or exit for the day.
5. If parent calls to notify Covid positive student, the Covid Hotline team needs to be notified.
6. At this time no screenings (vision/hearing) will be done unless staff have concerns for specific student.
7. To lessen chances of exposure, parents will make appointment with Robin/Kim prior to receiving meds, orders, etc.
8. At this point, Truman Medical Center is available to do testing with prior appointment needed.
PREVIOUS INFORMATION
OTHER UPDATES & THINGS TO KNOW from 8/19
*TEACHER'S LOUNGE- The PTA wanted to surprise you with your gift from waaaaaay back for Teacher Appreciation Week last spring. Be sure to pop in and check out the newest additions to the lounge! Also, I'm sure they would love it if you could shoot them a quick "thank you email".
- Tiffany Ippolito, PTA president
- mrstiffanyippolito@gmail.com
*NEW PRINTERS: these are TRICKY! Here's a tip from Wendy on how to find and choose the correct printer. The new printers that you are looking for are:
-- Office: FindMe-ColorStaff on print01
-- Workroom: FindMe-B&WStaff on print01
If the above options are not listed on your list of printers, go into your email, select print and open the drop down box there. The above options should show up. After you print an email to the correct copier, reboot your computer and the new copier options should show up (hopefully).
*SAFESCHOOLS VIDEOS: I know how much you all love these! The district made your videos available in the spring. If you chose to get a head start and thought you completed them, I would still check your account to be sure there aren't additional videos that have been added to required course list. If you haven't started them, now is a perfect time! :)
*BEING A WRITER: As a part of the Collaborative Classroom, we will be a building that begins using Being a Writer this year. There will be a training at some point during our teacher work days. I am waiting on a final decision on scheduling for that training.
REOPENING INFORMATION as of 8/13/20
These topics will be discussed in greater detail at a later time. But many of you have been asking great questions. As such, I wanted to share some basic information for our re-opening structures. Please realize, the county and the district are both waiting until August 25th to make a decision in regards to our learning format. So some of the items below will only apply if/when we have kids back in the building.
Things to note REGARDLESS of our Learning Format:
CERTIFIED STAFFING CHANGES (*UPDATED)
R7 Online Academy Teachers: Christen Pruett, Kara Treadwell, Emily Tooley, Andrew Hookie
CLASSIFIED STAFF UPDATES
* We will have three of our Resource Aides returning this year: Sarah, Jessica, and Gale. It has been approved for each of their schedules to be extended, in order to reallocate the hours that belonged to Janelle last year.
* I realize that the district has provided almost no information in regards to classified staff and how they may be impacted by decisions for the upcoming year. *UPDATED- The August 20th Board Meeting will include decision making in regards to reporting days and contracts for our classified staff members. Be watching for an update following this meeting.

* For medicine drop off - parent will meet health room staff at back door to take care of this task
FURNITURE

The chart explains all of the options and shows that should we go virtual, you may telecommute 4 days a week and report to the building on Wednesdays. You may also choose to come in to the building any day, if that is your preference.
COVID?

* Do you think someone has covid? The first thing you do is BREATHE!
* Do NOT share this information with others per HIPPA and FERPA
