NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Thank you all so much for your support and compassion during the time we spent at Morse. I'll say once again, that the staff at MHS was the most kind and helpful group of people that I've encountered in my many years in public education. Our experience was much like being on vacation, with good people, new adventures, great food, and gaining weight! As enjoyable as it was to be in that lovely new building with so many amenities, it is nice to be back home at PES.
Despite the trials and tribulations of this year, students have made tremendous academic and social growth. The staff has worked so hard in difficult conditions, and done so cheerfully.
Happily, our summer vacation is about to begin for many and that means taking a breather to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Many families might be ramping up for camps and other summer adventures. I hope that you all have a safe, relaxing, and "fun-tastic" summer!
REMINDERS
Feel free to keep this Thursday folder.
The first day of school for K-5 is September 5th, and Pre-K will start September 11th. Late Start Wednesdays start September 6th.
Any items left in Lost and Found after June 23rd will be given to charity.
OFFICE NEWS
The PES office is open on a limited basis during the summer months. The best way to reach us is by calling 389-1514 or by emailing Mrs. Doran at tdoran@rsu1.org. We will respond to parent questions as quickly as our schedule allows during our summer work; usually Wednesdays. If you have a change of address, phone number, or you move and your child will not return to PES in the fall, please email or call Mrs. Doran.
LIBRARY NEWS
ALL LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE BACK NOW
The summer reading lists have been compiled; visit LINK. The summer reading bingo game is a fun way to participate in reading during the summer and earn a $5.00 coupon for the Scholastic Book Fair (which will be September 4th through the 8th). Bingo sheets will go home with students today. I hope you have a great and safe summer.
YEARBOOKS AVAILABLE
Yearbooks went home last week. We ordered two extra copies, $20 each, first come, first served. Contact Mrs. Doran at tdoran@rsu1.org, if you wish to purchase one. Checks are to be made out to Phippsburg Elementary School.
END OF YEAR INFO FROM THE NURSE
MEDICATIONS
If your child has medication at school, the medication will need to be picked up by an adult by June 22nd at noon. After June 22nd, all medications will be discarded by the nurse. Also, please remember that medication administration forms and asthma action plans must be completed annually. Forms need to be completed prior to medications being accepted or administered. If you need these forms, please contact the school nurse.
IMMUNIZATIONS
Immunizations: Adequate immunization is a State mandated requirement for attendance in Maine schools. For those children whose immunization status is incomplete, please make a doctor appointment to get their immunizations current. Per State of Maine immunization law, no child will be permitted to attend school without evidence of immunization or proof of immunity against disease. Students enrolled in grades Pre-K through 12 are to be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, measles, mumps, rubella, polio and varicella. Additionally, all students enrolled in grades 7-12 must be immunized against meningococcal disease. If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse.
SPECIAL NEEDS
Parents are reminded to please contact the school in August if your child develops a condition that may require special needs, so that arrangements may be made prior to the start of school. This would include any broken limbs or new conditions including mobility or dietary restrictions.
