Sixth Grade Newsletter

Dear Parents,
Reading
Reading classes will not be having word study or vocabulary work or quizzes during the M-Step testing window. I will still expect them to fill in their reading logs whenever they are in class with me.
Writing
Last week, students wrote some hilarious spoof letters asking for donations to imaginary charities. Some of the favorites were life jackets for baby fish, camouflage jackets for deer, and wrinkle cream for elephants. Ask your student to share his/her letter with you.
Math
During the week of April 4th-7th, students started a new chapter on Algebraic expressions. Students learned about expressions and how to evaluate expressions involving exponents. They also learned how to write algebraic expressions. Homework that is due on Monday, April 10th is page 361(2-10) & page 362(1-6), and page 367(2-10) & page 368(1-6).
During the week of April 10th-14th, students will continue to write algebraic expressions. They will also work on identifying parts of expressions. Students will evaluate algebraic expressions and formulas. At the end of the week, students will be reviewing the first part of this chapter.
