Maddi Leigh Named To All-Metro Cross Country Team

For the third straight year, Maddi Leigh has been named to the St. Louis Track Club's All-Metro Cross Country Team. Maddi had a great season finishing 1st at the GAC South Meet, 5th at State Sectionals, and 12th at the State Championships. Maddi was recognized as a 1st Team All-GAC Cross Country runner and was also an Academic All-Conference recipient. Congratulations to Maddi on a great season!

Freshman Girls Basketball Wins Washington Tournament

Congratulations to the Freshman Girls Basketball team on winning the Washington Tournament. The Lady Vikings had wins over Borgia, Washington, and Troy on their way to earning the championship. The freshman girls are currently 13-0 on the season. Congratulations to Coach Carlson and our Lady Vikings.

Wrestling Finishes 3rd At St. Charles West Invitational

Congratulations to Wrestling on their 3rd place finish at the St. Charles West Invitational. Both Dylan Komperda (27-0) and Jack Heese (27-2) won championships. The Vikings are currently 11-1 and undefeated in the GAC South. This week wrestling takes on Waynesville at home on Tuesday and travels to FHC for the GAC South titile. Congratulations to Coach Stroh and the wrestling program on a great weekend.

106 - Justin Kustec (22-6) placed 4th and scored 13.00 team points.
113 - Tyler Kreith (24-4) placed 2nd and scored 21.00 team points.

Swim Earns Win Over FHC & Recognizes Seniors

The Lady Vikings Swim program earned a win over FHC 121-67 to move to 5-0 on the season. The Howell swimmers won 10 of 12 events over the Spartans from FHC on the night. Seniors Kylie Flagel and Taylor Haynes were also recognized for their great high school careers in the swim program. Thank you Taylor and Kylie for your contributions to Howell and the swim program!

FHHS Spotlight Artist - Maggie Knight

As the Viking Insider continues to recognize students across all activities at FHHS we unveiled a new feature last week, the "FHHS Artist Spotlight." Howell is full of many talented young students and we have several very gifted artists that we will highlight over the course of the next several weeks. This week we take a look at the work of Maggie Knight and learn more about her theme for her work.

Congratulations to Meghan Swoboda for winning 5th place in Poetry Reading on Saturday at Speech and Debate.

Purple Out Game Set For January 22nd

STUCO in coordination with the Boys and Girls Basketball Programs will host their "Purple Out" game on Friday, January 22nd as we take on FHN. Purple Out shirts were pre-sold but if you did not have the opportunity to purchase a shirt they will be on sale Wednesday during all lunches. Limited sizes are available.

Spring Meet The Coaches Scheduled For February 17th

On Wednesday, February 17th the spring "Meet the Coaches" night will be held in the FHHS Commons. All spring student-athletes and parents are required to attend this meeting. Student-athletes should turn in all eligibility paperwork during this time. All completed paperwork must be turned in by February 26th at noon to ensure participation when spring sports begin. All freshman, juniors, and new students to FHSD in baseball, volleyball, girls lacrosse, and girls soccer must have an updated Impact test completed to participate. Impact testing dates can be found below as well as the schedule for the Meet the Coaches night:

FHHS To Offer ACT Prep Seminars

At FHHS student-participants are truly students first. In order to help prepare students for college the FHHS Guidance Department in coordination with ZAPS is offering ACT Prep Seminars.

Those participating in the ACT Prep Seminars will receive:

  • 24 practice tests for the ACT and ZAPPING the ACT Study Guide
  • Specific strategies for each type of question on the ACT
  • General test-taking methods
  • Test-specific time-management techniques
  • Complete explanation of each question and answer on the practice tests
  • Unique system for analyzing errors to identify strengths and weaknesses
  • Instruction for writing a high-scoring Essay
