Our first Team Work Wednesday (TWW) is next week, September 4th during plan times. Here is a link to your agenda for this meeting. Please be on time and prepared to discuss the items on the agenda. Thank you!!
REMINDERS:
If a child moves to a new school within our district, please send their materials through school mail to that school within 24 hours.
Keep all district provided resources (Go Math, Science, ELA) in the plastic tubs and only pull out the ones that you need at that moment. When you are done, place them back in the tub. There are items that are going missing. We want to avoid that from happening. That is why they provided plastic tubs for you to store them.
Guided Reading groups should be starting as soon as possible. Use the running records that were given to you from the end of last year to tentatively create your groups. Groups are fluid. They will be changing constantly as students move up text levels or comprehension skills.
Please provide feedback on the district site for all subjects. If you need help finding the link, here it is! I can also help if needed. Come see me!

Below are some Team Building activities that you could use in your classroom to help set the culture in your room.
Inside-Outside Circle
Students stand in two concentric circles. Students in the inside circle face out, and the students in the outside circle face in so each student is facing a partner in the other circle. The teacher can call out a question, “How did you get your name?” (Students can have question cards instead of the teacher calling out questions.) Students take turns answering. When done, the teacher tells how many to rotate. They face a new partner and share information.
Find-the-Fiction
Students write three statements (2 true/1 false) about themselves and read them to teammates. Teammates try to “guess” which of the three statements is “true.”
Class Line-Ups
The teacher announces a dimension on which students can line up. For example, “Line up in ABC order by your first name.” Students quickly and quietly form a single-file line. Students go down the line stating their name to see if they are in order.
Teambuilding Interview using Team Windows
A student draws a rectangle (or circle) in the center of a paper and passes the paper to the person on his/her left.
The next student draws a line from a corner of the rectangle (part of the circle) to the corresponding corner of the paper and passes the paper.
The process is continued until all four corners of the window are connected to all four corners of the paper.
Number each section.
Students record commonalities. For example, if we all 4 in our group like chocolate, that would be noted in section 4. If only 2 like it, it would be noted in section 2. Students use Round Robin (going in a circle) each in turn, suggesting a characteristic they might have in common.
Team names are created based on commonalities. For example, if they find out that they all like the candy bar Snickers, then their team name could be the Snickerdoodles/Snickerpoodles/SnickerStudents/etc. Team names can be posted.
