Dear Parents and Families,


It has been a pleasure riding this pandemic wave with you this year! Thank you for supporting us through these challenging times of contact tracing, quarantining and mask wearing. It has not been easy but your support, cooperation and positivity have made all the difference!


Over the past few weeks we have begun to celebrate our students with a number of special events! Though restricted, their spirit and their dedication has been uplifting as we enter the home stretch. I look forward to the last few weeks of school and celebrating even more, especially with our seniors.


I have enclosed a calendar for the remainder of the year with our events and special schedules. Please let me know if you have any questions.

2021 Marching Band Begins!

On behalf of the staff and student leaders of the Rustin Golden Knights Marching Band (RGKMB) we are excited to invite all interested students to the first pre-season practice of the 2021 Season on Tuesday May 4! Marching Band is an extracurricular activity during the fall athletic season. We strongly encourage all Rustin HS students to be a part of the marching band if they will not be playing a fall sport for Rustin. If you have never played an instrument, we’d love to have you be a part of the color guard or we would be happy to teach you to play an instrument!


The pre-season spring practices give students an opportunity to begin getting familiar with marching band and our equipment and movement, and will also be working on our exciting 2021 marching band show, music from the Broadway musical “Hamilton”.

Our first practice will be on Tuesday night, May 4 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Students should be dropped off and picked up at the Rustin auditorium entrance. Please see below for a list of items to bring to practice.


Rehearsals will continue each Tuesday night in May up to and including Tuesday, June 1, 2021. We will have a parent meeting on 5/25/21 during practice. Please plan to have one parent/guardian per family in attendance at that meeting.


Summer Rehearsals:

July 3, 6PM – 9PM

July 28, 8AM – 2 PM


Band Camp:

August 9 – 13, 8AM – 6:30 PM


Post Camp:

August 17 – 19, 4PM – 7PM

No practices the following week (8/23 – 27)

Regular practices begin 8/31 and are on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.
