Curriculum
Writing- We are finishing the year up with some fun writing projects. Our current project is a poem about the favorite part of them. I can't want to share them with you.
Math -
4th - Kids are working on Unit 10. Which is all about reflection and symmetry. They are using transparent mirrors to duplicate images as well as draw lines of symmetry.
5th - We are just starting unit 11. This unit reviews geometric solids, as well as volume of geometric shapes and surface area of shapes.
Science -
4th - Our plants started off strong, growing great. But in the last week or so they aren't doing so great. We might not have green thumbs but we are going to attempt to replant and try again. Kids are learning about the plant life cycle and studying the importance of bees.
5th grade- Human Body - On Monday the kids disscected sheep hearts to look at the four chambers of the heart. They did amazing!! I was very impressed with their science minds. On Monday they have a quiz on labeling the parts of the heart. They have the information they need to study.
Social Studies -
4th - Kids are learning about the legistlative branch and next week we will continue with the other branches of government. We are also working on our mini society unit. We will have our protype day on Tuesday. Kids just need to bring one sample of what they are planning to make. They will be getting feedback from classmates on their product as well as pricing.
5th - We are continuing our study of the Revolutionary War. We are now talking about the different battles of the war and the differences between the British Army and the Colonial Army.
