What's the Buzz?!?

5 Minutes for Faith
I love this picture of Pope Francis opening the Holy Doors at St. Peter's Basilica in order to inaugurate the Jubilee of Mercy. In his Homily from Mass that day he said "To pass through the Holy Door means to rediscover the infinite mercy of the Father who welcomes everyone and goes out personally to encounter each of them," and later, continued to say "May our passing through the Holy Door today commit us to making our own the mercy of the Good Samaritan.” I truly believe that this statement can be a daily reminder to us in our personal lives. I pray that each of you reflect on the ways in which you could live more like the Good Samaritan and that you receive strength and grace of God to implement something new in your life.
Lock Down Meeting
I apologize for the short notice, however, we received a visit from Sgt. Mike Walsh on Friday letting us know that he has a very short window with which to hold our Lock Down meeting. We will meet as a faculty tomorrow, Monday, December 14 at 3:30pm in the VHM. Sgt. Walsh will briefly inservice us on Lock Down drills. Wednesday, December 16, will be our first Lock Down drill at 9:00am. Thanks for your patience with this!
Smile Break!
This is accurate all of the time- but mostly in December :) Have a wonderful week!!
A peek at our week!
- Grades 7 & 8 will participate in confessions tomorrow, Monday, December 14. We will also have School Rosary at 2:00 pm.
- For grades 5-8, we will have a Soap Box Derby meeting after school from 3:15-4:00 pm. Please encourage your students to attend and be a part of the team!
- This Thursday, December 17, we will have a school wide jeans/crazy Christmas sweater day. Students will vote on the teacher with the craziest Christmas sweater- so dig down deep into your closets and pull out your best sweater!
- Friday, December 18 we will have our Advent/Christmas parties beginning at 1:45 and concluding at 2:30. Parents were reminded that if they intend to take their child after the party we must have a note that morning. Grades 5-8 will have a skating party off campus. They will be eating a packed lunch and a sweet treat from the cafeteria staff before they leave.
- Don't forget to kick off your Christmas break the right way by joining us in the Upper Room on Friday after school! There will be good food and good company!
What a week!
I am happy to report that we have almost survived half a year together :) I really appreciate all of your zeal for the traditions at St. Francis. The things you do, and participate in, to give our students wonderful memories are truly amazing! Again, a big thank you to Colleen, Judy, and all of the primary teachers for their work with Emmanuel's Song. It was beautiful- and really pulled on my heartstrings! Thanks, too, for your patience with Eli. I know he has been mischievous, and at times very time consuming, but I know the students are excited to see him and what he's up to in the school! Finally, a big thanks to Stephanie, Eileen, Laurie and Nicole for all of their work in preparing the students to enjoy the Polar Express and for transforming their hallway into a Polar Express dreamland! It is such an awesome tradition!
I hope that you enjoy this last week with your students before break! I will be getting all of the students' basketball schedules and will share them with you as soon as I get them so that maybe you could check out a game over break!!
