The History of the Sandwich
In 1762 John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich was a heavy gambler and often spent many hours trying to win money at bars and taverns. When he invented the sandwich by ordering meat between two pieces of bread and called it a sandwich, he had enough money to pay back all of his gambling debts.
Why Are Sandwiches So Popular?
The reason why sandwiches are so popular is because you can change the sandwich to match what you like most. For example, if you like meat and lettuce, but you don't like tomatoes, than you can arrange your sandwich the way you want it.
Why this Holiday Should be Celebrated by More People
One reason that I think this holiday should be celebrated by more people is because sandwiches are so easy to make and you can arrange it any way you want. Another reason is because I think that we don't appreciate food enough and that we should celebrate the creatoin of some of our favorites including sandwiches. My last reason is that the invention of sandwiches changed the way we ordered food and made it.
