Principal's Message

Dear Ride Families,

March is a month of luck! Where leprechauns run rampant and four-leaf clovers are sought! Here at SKR, we will be searching for the gold under the rainbow and reaching for the stars, as we strive to do our best every day!!

We are visiting perseverance this month as our character trait.

Perseverance is a personality trait that pushes you to overcome difficulties. Having perseverance means that when you are facing a challenge, you use your mind and your body to overcome it.

Kids might be surprised to hear that perseverance (also called grit) is really important for living a life they enjoy and can be proud of. Why? Because life is full of challenges and struggles. Perseverance is the drive that helps you get past the hard stuff to get to what you want. It is when you keep working toward a goal, even when it is hard. This is a great time to teach kids that there is an easy way and a right way! And the easy way is not always the right way. Sometimes, we have to work hard and do what's right at the same time to reach our goals.

Words that describe perseverance are patience, confidence, optimism, courage, believe in your self, but mainly to never give up.

This will be our topic during announcements and in classrooms for the month of March.

Ask your kids what it means and see if you can come up with some examples of perseverance at school and at home.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Megan Burnham
