A big thank you to all those parents – over 100 of you – who visited our exhibitions two weeks ago and gave us valuable feedback. Your insights are already informing the architectural team as they develop alternative design concepts in this phase of the development. Read more about the findings

If you weren't able to visit the consultation exhibition, you can see the display on our special website. There is also a feedback form for you to leave your comments.

  • There will not be any choir or singing lessons the first week back after half term.
  • Due to popular demand we are now able to offer the same sandwich selection at Junior Boys as the Senior sites after our return from the half term break.
  • Class photograph proofs have been sent home with the boys this week. Please return any orders to the school office by Friday 28 February.
  • Half term is an excellent time to book your son a haircut. We have noticed that hair lengths are creeping longer beyond our guidelines.

Our Reading Champions for the first half of this term are James Palmer-Moore, Seb Webster, Farhan Hussain, Andrew Babcock, Aaron Mussell, Jay Keyte, Jonah Stevens, and Charlie Doyle.

Over 75 books were swapped during our annual Book Swap event last Friday. This was in celebration of National Storytelling week and I sincerely hope the boys all enjoy their new books. I wonder how many more book reviews will appear on our reading tree ??

Happy reading everyone

Yesterday afternoon the school and many parents were treated to our annual talent competition - 'Ridgeway's Got Talent' - in which 8 acts entertained, amused and impressed those watching. The quality and variety of the acts was excellent, and well done in particular to our winners, Sam Hitchen and Sam Roberts.

Earlier in the week a quiz team from our Junior girls and boys were due to play in a tournament at Davenies School, but the coach driver stopped en route to assist a young motorist who had driven into a ditch! Good Samaritans that we are, the motorist needed help, but it meant the quiz team did not get to their venue in time. We are hoping to rearrange for the team to compete after half term, however.

Other news includes a fantastic trip for Year 1 to the Natural History Museum on Tuesdays as part of their Dinosaur studies. The boys came back full of enthusiasm and the staff were really impressed with the behaviour and very positive and inquisitive nature of Year 1.

This weekend is busy for our chess players with two big events being hosted by us on Saturday and Sunday, the latter being a County competition. Good luck to boys involved in those events and to all - have a relaxing and enjoyable half term break.

After four and a half years with us as a teaching assistant Miss Powell is moving on to complete her degree and then work abroad for a while in the family firm. We will sorely miss her energy, hard work and laughter! The boys will similarly miss her enthusiasm and empathy. Thank you and good luck, Miss Powell

Our Rabbit winners this week are two of our Year 6 boys, James Milligan and James Palmer-Moore . James Palmer-Moore was tremendously helpful and thoughtful, showing a very mature attitude in assisting with Ridgeway's Got talent this week. James Milligan again showed much maturity and a most caring and thoughtful manner in helping our First Aider, Mrs Webb, deal with a younger pupil this week. Very well done to both James's.

Our chess teams traveled to Twickenham Prep. on Saturday to compete in the qualifying round of the English Primary Schools Championships. The U11 team are now through to the semi-finals having come 7th out of 19 teams. Congratulations to Jake Bains-Gillespie, Harry Grayson, Ojas Arora, Max Pianta, Aditya Singh and Johannes Dreischmeier.

We were only able to take a depleted U9 team but thanks Niam who won all of his games and the support of Henry Dargan in Yr 2 we are looking forward to entering the plate competition in the next round. Well done to Niam Popat, Sam Rollett, Kyle Wheeler, Henry Dargan and Joshua Fisher.

The next round is in Bristol on Saturday 17 May.
