Weekly News & Information for 9th Grade Tigers Families
August 16-19, 2022
Spanish: Students in Spanish classes have been learning to negotiate our district-provided curriculum, Señor Wooly. We have set our Class Norms. Next week we will begin having graded assignments. Students should come prepared for class daily and bring their charged computers, composition notebook, earbuds or headphones, and something to write with.
PE: Welcome to Patton Physical Education. Mr. Amon and Mrs. Dreiling are excited to get this year started. All 6th-9th grade students have had a tremendous week in preparing to hit the ground running on Monday. On Monday, we will begin grading in Skyward. 6th grade students will be receiving outcome based standard reflections at the end of the semester. Dressing out for PE this year is optional. Students will furnish their own locks for the locker room if they choose to dress out. All students will need tennis shoes and comfortable clothing on PE days. Please check with your student on the days they will have PE. Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have for your student!
*We will look to go outside as much as possible for PE (weather permitting). Please help us in reminding our students to bring water bottles and tennis shoes every day they have PE.

World History: In World History, students were issued their chromebooks and their text books for all their classes. We've enjoyed getting to know each other and on Monday will dive into our first unit. I am excited to see how all of the diverse backgrounds in our classes will contribute to our daily class discussions and studies.
Broadcast : Broadcast students shared about themselves this week, and we have moved into scripting for broadcast. It is my hope that our first morning announcements will air in the upcoming week.
Engineering Essentials: In our first section, students consider their perception of engineers and engineering. They learn brainstorming techniques, define mindset characteristics that are important to success in engineering, and identify their own personal traits that align with engineering. Using their personal engineering perspective, students reflect individually and within a team on global engineering challenges, choose a challenge that they feel is the most important challenge facing their generation, and gather evidence to make a persuasive presentation to convince an audience of its importance.
