Miss K's Classroom Newsletter
Week of September 12 - September 16
Do you hear voices in your head?
R.D.W. - Read, Draw, Write!
RDW is the strategy we have been using this week to help us solve math word problems. R stands for "read the problem" and circle important information, D stands for "draw a picture" and W stands for "write the equation". We broke off into groups to see if we could use this strategy together and then present it to the class!
"Doo-dee-doo unto otters as you would have otters doo-dee-doo unto you"
We have been working really hard to follow our essential agreements. By following our essential agreements, we ensure that we are all treated positively and that we have a welcoming, loving, and caring classroom community! We have spent a lot of time talking about rules, laws, and consequences this week and these read aloud books helped us see how sometimes the way we treat each other comes with consequences also. So we should always strive to treat others the way we want to be treated (the golden rule!)
As a class, we can earn positive behavior points! We earn these by making smart choices, showing HEART, and by doing our job!
Our first goal was 50 points and we reached that goal this week already! When we reach our goal, we vote to figure out what kind of party we want to have to celebrate. Our first vote was a TIE - so we combined them! Stuffed animal and iPad party!
Can you think of a better way to end the first full week of school?
A big thank you to all of the families who came to Open House. I know we were all very excited to have you visit our classroom. We hope you learned a thing or two about our classroom routines and what we have been working on so far!
If you did not get the chance to sign up for a parent teacher conference, please be sure to email me so we can get that set up. Have a great weekend!
