News & Notes from Mrs. Kapuchuck
Dear Families,
Please read below for highlights from this week, as well as upcoming events you won't want to miss!
* Congratulations to Ms. Pequignot for writing and publishing her own book! She read her new book to her own students today. We are so proud of her!
* PTO Fun Run- October 4th- Mark your calendars! Fun Run letters and donation forms were sent home with students today. Please consider supporting MVES through this fundraiser. ALL of the money from the Fun Run goes right back to our classrooms and our students. This is such a fun event for everyone! We need lots of volunteers to make this day amazing for our students! If you would like to come volunteer at some point that day, please click on the following link to sign up!
* This coming Friday, 9/20, is an Early Release Day for students. Students will be dismissed at 1 pm. Please make sure your child is aware of how he/she is going home that day if it is different than his/her regular transportation. All RCPS licenced staff members will be participating in Cognitive Science professional development once students are dismissed.
* For the safety of all of our children, please use the car rider lanes if you are picking up your child after school. If you need to come in the office for pick up, please wait until at least 3:10, or until all cars are gone, so that our car riders can be dismissed first. Our staff is working diligently to make sure each child is signed out correctly, therefore, they will not be able to sign out your child until their car rider duty is complete. As a reminder, please contact the office by 2:00 pm with any transportation changes. Thank you for understanding!
* MVES is hiring a part-time evening custodian. This is a four-hour shift from either 3pm-7pm or 4pm-8pm. If you or someone you know is interested, please consider applying at the RCPS Human Resources website by clicking here and then clicking on "employment". You may also reach out to me for more information!
* All fourth and fifth graders who signed up for a club will receive a confirmation letter next week. Please be on the lookout for this in your child's folder.
* Friday, 9/27 is Sports Day! MVES staff and students may dress in their favorite sports attire to show their team spirit!
* United Way Day of Caring- Our 5th-grade students will participate in the United Way Day of Caring on September 25th. They will work on projects out in the community as well as within our school. We are so proud of them for striving to "Be the Difference" in our community!
Have a wonderful weekend! May each day be meaningful!
