Next Safe Schools Module Due 6/9/17!
SafeSchools Training: The last required module, Customer Service Overview, began March 27, 2017 through June 9, 2017. All staff are required to complete this module. Please contact Mr. Lord if you have questions.
Please take a few moments to complete this CCS survey:
Instructional expectations for the remainder of the school year:
All teachers are expected to teach until the final day of school. On days of your content state tests, you cannot teach your content, but this is ONLY on days of your content state test. Movies are only permitted with the approval of the grade level administrator (all encore comes to Tulbert). This submission must be by EMAIL. If you have students watching a movie, an activity MUST be assigned with the movie that aligns with your standards (and this must be attached in the email). Please be extra mindful of student supervision in the hallways. All teachers should be in the hallways at class transitions. Also, if you want to take your students outside the building beyond a walk from one location to the next or longer than 5 minutes, then this must also be approved by the grade level administrator (encore to Tulbert). Please let me reiterate: any outside activity longer than 5 minutes must be approved by the grade level administrator.
Important Information
Please remember that every PLC needs to complete their performance rubric by June 9th!
Curriculum Review Week will be occurring the week after school ends. In order for our teams to effectively revise the curriculum documents, please make sure teachers have provided feedback on the units. The links to the feedback forms are linked below the curriculum documents.
Also, CCS will be offering differentiated professional development on August 14-16 (uncapped teacher workdays). This is an outstanding opportunity for you to take some time to invest in your own professional learning, work on your CEUs, and come back refreshed with new ideas!
Deadlines and end of year planning
The end of year checklist will be coming to you this week. We are trying very hard to simplify as many things as possible. But go ahead and start saying a huge THANK YOU to our front office staff, as your cumulative folder experience will be minimal this year thanks to their efforts and acknowledgement of your need to spend your time on other needed items in those final workdays. Retention information will also be coming out this week.
For those of you moving out of classrooms completely, ALL belongings MUST be out by end of the day on Monday, June 12th. No exceptions. We have a lot of classroom movement in various areas of the school, so this is essential. If you need to get into the school on the weekends, this will not pose any issue. Just contact Mr. Lord for that, please.
Classroom assignments and teaching assignments - my deadline to get this to you is Friday, June 2nd in the afternoon. When in doubt about your physical classroom assignment, start cleaning up and organizing.
Shout Out on our instructional support folks!
From one of our staff members: I absolutely feel like Alisan, Annette, and Amy (or, A3, as I shall henceforth refer to them) need some MASSIVE shout outs! These ladies were not given a lot of time, had major technical difficulties, and were under a LOT of pressure to produce these EOG Carnival lessons, and they did an AMAZING job!!! Our lessons were completely created and every detail was covered. The logistics were clearly well planned. From a Math and ELA teacher, I felt like the content and strategies were fantastic! I never felt like this was “one more thing to do” because it was all done so well for me, and I just had to add it to my calendar and facilitate.
EOG Carnival - WOW!
Thank you to all homeroom teachers for giving up your Miner Time to complete EOG Carnival Lessons, holding students accountable for points and keeping track of points, and entering them into a spreadsheet with a quick turnaround time!
Thank you to all who helped set up this morning: Meehan, Berryman, Crosby, Carpenter, Redmond, Reynolds (and anyone else that helped that I didn't see because I was running around like a crazy person).
Thanks to all the CORE teachers who gave up their planning time to spend some extra time with their kids: Kluttz, Beamer, Patton, Hagle, Harris, Messier, Hannan, Anderson, Clardy, Harding, Long, McCraw, Widenhouse, Driver, Treadaway & Clifford
Thanks to all the ENCORE teachers for supervising the event and keeping the peace with 250+ students at a time in the carnival! Ms. Reynolds also did a fabulous job keeping everything organized in the carnival!
A special thanks to those who volunteered to stay back with those students who were not quite so willing to work: Abercrombie, Garcia, Berryman, Kingshill, Shumate and Koceja!
This also could not have gone out as smoothly as it did without help from Ms. Royster! She was willing to help out in any way possible (even by writing out students names on wristbands for hours, and counting tickets like a champ)! I think CMS is truly blessed to have her, she could have made an excellent fabric measurer at Hobby Lobby, I am glad she chose us instead!
We also had the best break down crew ever!!! Thanks Hannan, Abercrombie, Carpenter, Clardy, Harding, and Royster for giving up a little bit of your weekend to help get everything cleaned up!!!
It takes a village to get everything done and this would not have been possible without all of you! I am so happy to be a part of the staff at CMS and work alongside each of you!
Prepping for EOY Activities
End of Year Awards Day is quickly approaching! At these ceremonies we recognize students accomplishments for the entire 2016-2017 school year! This is also a time where we recognize outstanding achievement in each subject area as well as stand out students on each team!
For 6th & 7th grade this will take place on the last day of school, Friday, June 9th! If a student is receiving an award from your class or team (as you indicated on the google doc) please call and personally invite the parents of the student you are honoring! Invites will be going home with all students next week! The 6th grade ceremony will be at 9:15 & the 7th grade ceremony will be at 11:00!
The 8th grade Promotion Ceremony & Awards will be held on Thursday, June 8th at 6:00pm in the Main Gym. All students are encouraged to attend so that they can walk across “stage” and receive their certificate promoting them to high school! We will also honor individual students that are receiving awards from their classes (as indicated on the google doc). Students will be seated on the gym floor in chairs, parents & visitors will be in the bleachers! We are hoping that the Promotion Ceremony will become a new tradition here at CMS that students look forward to!
